Yea I would say there is a lot of gameplay difference. Tales of series and FF series are both JRPGs. Call me crazy but the difference between turn based and non-turn based combat is a big one. I rarely hear people consider pokemon a JRPG series but it checks literally all the boxes.Only by those who can't comprehend what a genre is (unless you're using an overly narrow definition of "gameplay" here).
Thus far, you're the only one here insisting that entire genre must be reduced to a race thing (let alone that liking Berserk must = "weeb"... which, no, does not mean merely a Nipponophile).
Which, if you were right, would historically be an outlier, as French AG hasn't actually been limited to films from France, German Modern Philosophy hasn't been solely from Germany (nor even the lands that would later lie within its borders), "Hong Kong Cinema" has had named influence/inspiration outside of HK or even China, etc., etc. Instead, those terms tend to focus on what traits actually describe the character and qualities of the work itself, with the point of origin for a school of thought/design simply being a tangential shorthand to that. They aren't nearly so uselessly reductive as you would make them out to be.
Unless you consider the following as deciding point:
This person might be joking but JRPG has been used in a derogatory way by a lot of people (not only for the reason stated here). Which is why it is disliked by jp devs.
I'm saying the term is useless and on top of that infested with racism. Thus far, you're the only one here insisting that entire genre must be reduced to a race thing

No, it really isn't. They destroyed the HW and SB versions of DRK, so anybody who liked those versions of it don't have anything similar in the game to go to. DRK is not for people who like playing it, DRK is for the devs to destroy and to throw a few of its mechanics into something else. Reprisal and Low Blow were originally from DRK. Camouflage was originally from DRK (Dark Dance, changed into Anticipation). Eukrasia was originally from DRK (Dark Arts).

What is once was is kinda irrelevant. If you don't like it currently, then it's clearly not there for you. It's there for the people who do like it.No, it really isn't. This is a particularly silly argument.
The same logic applies. But i'm glad that we can now both see how silly ''Play because you want to play it'' is in a balance discussion.
