I absolutely agree a crafted augment to enable undyeable gear to become dyeable would be a wonderful thing to have. As far as updating the dye system to a color wheel, I feel that may be a bridge too far for the developers.

It is much easier to adapt the current system than it is to test every hue, saturation, and brightness combination in every environment and lighting that a character might encounter. Then again, I've been wrong in the past about what a dedicated developer can pull off within a gaming engine.
