I don't know how much I can agree with that. XIV is very story focused, the writers really really want you to read a bit on your job identity by playing their storylines. Just like how you have to do the endless breadcrumb MSQ in order to unlock everything and experience the story in the order they want you to. It is of course completely unnecessary mechanically, but unlocking new abilities as your character experiences a deeper understanding of their job is at least putting the RPG part in MMORPG, just a little.

Besides, most of the job quests are honestly better written than the MSQ.

I'm sorry if it comes across as trying to gatekeep, because it's not; but I still think if doing solo duties, reading dialogue, and doing breadcrumb quests bothers you, well then is this game making you miserable?
