They just need to change a small handful of arcanist weapons, and then they can make it so you can't equip your classes again even if you wanted to. No room for mistakes.
And yeah, just think by 35 or 40 or something the game just doesn't let you into Duty Finder until you have a soul crystal. Not asking for a lot.
I addressed this in my original post: have it do a check as you queue in, just like it would to make sure you actually have the duty unlocked, where you just get an error that you don't have it equipped. It can be negated with a premade and a tickybox to not check for it.
The idea - is not to lock core features of class behind SOLO content in MMO game. Like in MSQ at least u have dungeons and trials. In job quests u mainly have awful solo-instances (which I really dont want to do)
I also remember had to switch from WHM to SCH, coz my party were need me here and now as a healer.
The solo instances take less time to do than a dungeon, though... also just skip the cutscenes.
Another easy solution is simply to remove the base jobs from every weapon post lvl 30 or 35. Why they were left on there after ARR is pretty ridiculous.Cap base classes at level 30. If you want to level higher, get a job stone. Add a popup message in the final class quest to direct people to the next quest to make sure they get the point.
This would also require decoupling summoner and scholar, since they wouldn't share arcanist experience anymore.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Funnily enough, Relics consistently do this, Excalibur Zeta, Aettir Lux, Antea Physeos, Blade's Honor and Amazing Manderville Sword are all PLD-exclusive, attempting to unequip the job stone will return an error message, so it can certainly, and rather easily, be done.

I don't know how much I can agree with that. XIV is very story focused, the writers really really want you to read a bit on your job identity by playing their storylines. Just like how you have to do the endless breadcrumb MSQ in order to unlock everything and experience the story in the order they want you to. It is of course completely unnecessary mechanically, but unlocking new abilities as your character experiences a deeper understanding of their job is at least putting the RPG part in MMORPG, just a little. The idea - is not to lock core features of class behind SOLO content in MMO game. Besides, most of the job quests are honestly better written than the MSQ.
I'm sorry if it comes across as trying to gatekeep, because it's not; but I still think if doing solo duties, reading dialogue, and doing breadcrumb quests bothers you, well then is this game making you miserable?
