You went from having a point to: "Ok, boomer."
Jokes aside, I agree 100% there should be genuine skill expression for all roles. If casuals wanna casual they can stay in casual content and not worry about optimizing. They shouldn't cry and complain that they are "gatekept" out of harder content when they themselves don't want to improve. If everyone is VIP then no one is.
That being said, your comments on people talking about their feelings and being "coddled" despite growing up in a psychotic environment that is cranking up rates of depression (referring to the USA) made me lol.

I'll give healer a try up until level 100. If I do not like it, I'm off the role, entirely. Was this what Yoshi P wanted for people like me? Did he assume we were too foolish to take any semblance of complexity? How could such an allegedly open developer act so dismissive towards his own players? The flavor of the jobs I loved so much throughout the franchise were mere husks of themselves. What was once a magical world peeled away to reveal a sterile room of four walls. No imagination, no challenge, only accessibility for the sake of it. I didn't feel welcomed, I felt betrayed.

Ill bite.Really?
Even the Crafters and Gatherers?
MAN, we need to rise up and demand them to stop coddling the Crafters and Gatherers.
You know what needs to happen? We need a Crafters and Gatherers Ultimate, or a New DoL & DoH Raid Series.
Make the Jobs and Content Hard Again, there is no reason we dont Wipe against High Level Deposits. The Ocean Fishing Alliance Raid was a Good Attempt, but even Sprouts could Clear it without taking damage.
SE needs to do better.
Hopefully the Next Ocean Fishing Raid will be harder.
Crafting pre-5.3 was much harder and the rework to allow EVERYONE to be a crafter was a shit decision that literally tanked the marketboard and actual crafting mains got screwed over.
Don't we already have content that people wipe in? Even during roulettes people still wipe in those, or on the current level 90 casual content.Things don't need to be unclearable, but an occasional vote abandon and wipe even in casual content helps players get better and appreciate the times when it actually is a smooth experience. We had that in HW and SB and the game grew just fine then.
Having absolutely zero stakes to casual content makes for an incredibly dull experience.

Meh, ff14 has always been a soft game, its been around too long to change. Its almost year 10, they have their audience, only reason for the peak was asmon. When\if he comes back, It will peak again.

This tho. When Aglaia was newer, I'd seen my alliance wipe because not everyone fully understood the balance mechanic during the Nald'thal fight, and I see similar things happen in some of the other less frequented raids (both normal and alliance). But funnily enough, I personally experience the most wipes doing ARR content with new tanks/healers.
So... ultimately, this is anecdotal, and any struggle I witness is usually down to inexperience or just, like, "wow, it's been a while since I've done this one," but it still amounts to the same thing. The challenge is still there, just not for players who frequently run the content in question, and especially when said content is less formulaic than the usual fare.
I feel he's right there, the new raids, trials etc... its way too easy and dungeons became even more of an hallway sim then ever before..Things don't need to be unclearable, but an occasional vote abandon and wipe even in casual content helps players get better and appreciate the times when it actually is a smooth experience. We had that in HW and SB and the game grew just fine then.

Im not a fan of easy mode for story as well... there need to be points of "you need to be THIS good to continue".
