Like you can do everything on 1 character, you dont need to have multiple characters for multiple Professions. So other then RP: just simply being in a different skin, what is the point?
Raid lockouts. It's beneficial for raiders who have cleared but want to keep practicing, or who have cleared with friend group A but want to help friend group B, without affecting 7 other people's loot lockouts.

(Edit: I don't agree with OP though. The MSQ is just fine. He can buy a skip if he needs to be at endgame ASAP that badly lmao.)

I give up with you people. Forum community is absolutely unhinged. Imagine joining my alt's FC just to wait for me to come online to harass me lmao.

I have a slew of alts they're all end game. Some I took through story, others I skipped. I suspect we'll get a fresh start with 7.0 but I could be wrong.

Another aspect to keep in mind is the new player experience. Imagine selling your friend on the game with the cool raids and such. Now imagine they ask how long it takes to get to that point and you have to tell them "Oh, 150 hours or so."

If you were actually trying to sell it to them and not trying to portray it in a way that puts them off, you describe it as being five 30-hour RPGs in a row, which is a much better summary of its structure than a single 150-hour epic. You get access to more cool raids at the conclusion of each instalment, not only at the end of everything.

I wouldnt even dare tell a new player that it takes literally an entire month to get to the end game, no wonder the MSQ and level boosts are always in top sales

Because other aspect were bs, like they used horrible engine, there were tons bugs, they didn't think about post game content.
I am not saying that old republic is great, i am saying it has a great voice acting.
GW2 or ESO also has voice acting, both of them are popular.
SWTOR has great voice acting because they blew the whole wad on voice acting. The game suffered because they didn't have the money for it.
GW2 has a very minimal story compared to others, so it didn't cost as much.
    Voice acting costs a ton.

since this game's biggest selling point is the story, you and other people are doing a huge disservice for it by painting the game where the endgame matters. When FFXIV's endgame is the most casualest of content where players wont be spending their time on it for very long unlike other MMOs that are built around it.

The reason why this game is so successful is because of that player investment where the narrative sets the tone for everything that you do, which is FFXIV's biggest strength.

Why would I want to sell the game on the raids? The normal raids are nothing impressive - just a series of boss trials. Alliance raids are better, but still not all that cool.
Endgame is the where the game ends, and the grind starts. Certainly not the strong point of this game.
The MSQ and the sidequests is where the fun is, so it is a good thing there are so much of it.
