Length MSQ from all the expansions - it is getting insane

Most other MMO's force you to play different classes on different characters.

WoW's story is not 30 days long, you can level from 1 to max in 3 or 4 days time, you cant compare both. In the time you level 10 classes in WoW, you go through a single MSQ in FF.

Yes but it was kinda odd the way you jumped on my post directly responding to Kenarashi with "yeah but to repeat my other posts, the story sucks, but just my opinion"

Well I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with that opinion, also you compared other MMO's and FF with the worst comparison possible, saying that the way FF does it is fine because it's only one character, while in the time you level one character in FF through the entire MSQ, you can have a full panel of characters fully leveled up in other MMO's and up to date with the questlines, and probably even geared up to some extent.

Having the ability to play multiple roles on one character, instead of having jobs locked to characters, is a good thing. Am I missing something here?
There's no need to level up multiple characters, when you have everything you need on one character. What is the problem with that?

I never mentioned anything about the quality or length of the story. As you said it was just your opinion, that is subjective.

Makes no sense since you're not required to level alts for progression. This game is so babyishly easy in its progression that you can get by with the bare minimum in hardcore content (sides Ultimates and Criterion). Its the playerbase desperately trying to gatekeep and treat its harder content as if gearing bis in other roles is a required thing.

Other MMOs have advantages where there's actual endgame battle content that makes getting upgrades in many characters needed for progression. FFXIV isnt one of those MMOs.

They do need to add better support for alts.

I would like to see something as simple as...

Once per service account, you can link 1 character to another. Doing so will share their achievements, purchased items with real currency (Mogstation), story progression, and personal housing. Heck, I would even pay for a character-linking feature similar to this.

Beyond this, functions as current.

SE isn't holding a gun to your head to force you to buy story skip/levelling skip. thats completely optional. if you feel forced too then might want to rethink the mmo scene altogether. As for multiple toons..just a waste of time. they made this easier on people who want to play different classes without having to have multiple toons. As for the number of hours...you new to the franchise? for as long as i can remember, final fantasy has always been a story driven rpg. Even ff11 is the same way. So why would they change up the formula lol. I also get your hate of fetch quests and was happy when they adjusted post arr msq leg. you can honestly skip side content and just focus down unlocking housing as you go and aether currents.

like if you trolling cool but if you serious. might wanna consider playing WoW and other mmo's that more fit your vision of what you want because this is here to stay. the formula won't change and trust me. it sucks to have to go through it all again on an alt but hey, you can skip cutscenes to make it at least a bit less of a bother.

Imagine defending "pay real money so you can skip it, if you don't like then go to another mmo" lol. As a veteran we should have an option to skip entirely the MSQ or start in any expansion period.

In regards to the OP. The issue is that FFXIV is an "MMO" structured like a linear single player RPG that has DLC and expansions adding on to the main story line over time making it longer, while other MMO's take a more sandbox like or open world approach where the main story can be ignored in favor of exploration and side quests/activities because everything is either accessible right from the start or very shortly after starting the game.
