You should definitely get option to story skip on alts, once one of your character finishes story. But I doubt that's ever happening, there's some nice money for SE in selling story skips.

And I'm for more voice acting. It's not-a-cheap AAA with main focus on story, there are no excuses for having only some 1/3 of story voice acted, especially when much less profitable games like GW2 have voice acted everything including player (5 races * 2 genders = 10 VAs just for player character) and even just random NPCs randomly chatting in overworld.

Totally agree. Most of modern MMO are voiced. As you mentioned GW2. ESO is also voiced not to mention SW the Old Republic.

Let's not pretend the SWTOR is anything great...

Though it has some nice aspects....it's problems are numerous, and long lasting.

I am not saying it is a great game. I am saying that leveling was great because of voice acting.

SWTOR has great voice acting because they blew the whole wad on voice acting. The game suffered because they didn't have the money for it.
GW2 has a very minimal story compared to others, so it didn't cost as much.

Tell me you didn't play those games without actually telling me.

Even if GW2 had shorter story, it is completely voice acted, while FFXIV has 1/3 of a main story voice acted at best. There are 10 VAs just for player character and it's not just main story, but everything, including random NPCs that are voice acted. But most importantly, the game will cost you now 60 euro for all expansions, no sub ever needed. So if smaller game with much more customer friendly prices can do it, why can't FFXIV?

As for SWTOR, I haven't played it, but quick googling tells me that problems were mainly technical with some questionable design choices, while players praise it's story (which is where investing into VA pays off).

"Voice acting costs ton" - Everything costs a ton if you mismanage it. Why do we need Game of Thrones actors and celebrities like KENN? It's just flex, if they hire less known, but just as capable VAs for half a price, they save money, give exposure to the new talent and they get good relation with that VA. But yeah, then they cannot use the "we hired too popular people that are too busy, which is why we couldn't get voice acting done" excuse.

This is fair though, it could be more alt friendly. Adding the ability to MSQ skip to the point your main is at has value.

Oh yes, that's what l enjoy the most in gw2. I love the va on my female asura during the story

Yes... and when you kids become completely reliant on everything being audio and forget how to read, I will be able to leave sticky notes everywhere knowing the information on them is more secure than anything in your digital world... :P

When you are talking about A realm reborn you have to remember that they were still rebuilding the game after the disaster that was 1.0. Heavensward was when this game started growing and the dev team wants to have regular content updates which makes patching some of the problems in the early parts of the game difficult, they considerably shortened the time it took to do the post 2.0 story line a few years ago but there is still some story that they had to fit in there. I personally gave up the game about a year ago and closed my account due to nerve problems and finding a group to do content with at the time, but I grew to miss the community, so I came back on a new account and do understand your frustration.
