I find it so weird, that hotheads that came from WoW are so protective over FFXIV now. They want FFXIV to so badly be their savior from when they left WoW, that they're blinded by their hatred for that game and don't realize that THEIR grievances with WoW did change it for the better. Maybe they'll understand our complaints once they get bored of the repeated 8 year old content, and have also run Crystal Tower and Praetorium for the 1000th time.
It's the equivalent of me running through all of WoW's old expansions and going "What do you have to complain about, you can do Torghast!"
Telling us to go play WoW instead of airing our legitimate grievances over the game we've enjoyed the past decade. We do this so that we can potentially have that same chance of evolution for our favorite game that they were given. Instead we're told to continue praising Yoshi and CBU:III, or leave.
I can't deny that XIV is growing, we do have an absolutely massive amount of backlogged content for new players. But as current content, it's lacking and I feel neglected as an active player.
No product, or person has ever been better by surrounding themselves by yes-men.
This is one of the most overlooked points.
The people saying the game has so much stuff to do, are people that have only played for 2 years or don't play the game much overall.
People that play XIV as their main game, have finished a majority of the games content and want more content to do.
Starting the game now, would be overwhelming. Two years down the track, the endgame would seem bland.
Me with 4+ years with plenty to do still but oke. Unlike many others even content I don't like still counts as stuff to do. My willingness to do it has no baring on its existence in the gameThis is one of the most overlooked points.

My god this is what i have been trying to say for sometime now. Its amazing how a few lousy patches is starting to open everyones eyes and people are finally stepping off the hamster wheel. A little innovation for long time players seems to be asking too much. This is one of the most overlooked points.

Death Is Only The Beginning....
Final Fantasy XIV was based on standards of the genre set by Wrath of the Lich King and took with it its worst baggage: players being fed hand to mouth for all content in the game. As such, there's a limited pool of funds that companies can spend on these games. Blizzard took the raiding route and Square Enix took the single-player storyline route. Both are mutually exclusive. And since both games have made heavy sacrifices (Blizz for casual content, Square for endgame), fans of both are equally discontent at their own games. They deal with it differently: because WoW is an aggressive raiding game, fans are as vocal as they are during prog. Because FFXIV prizes itself on being casual-friendly, positive all the time and "non-toxic", fans simply stand idle while playing other games.
Perhaps it wasn't wise for Yoshida to clone the WoW model! If you copy someone else's homework, you risk copying the wrong answer...

People are mad because 14 had a perfectly viable long term casual endgame content piece and has had one for two expansions now
And we lost it for POTD 3.0 and excel simulator
I honestly feel the same with most WoWs refugees. They treat FFXIV as some kind of savior, and every time someone that has been playing it for years has complains about it or even say something nice about a specific WoW system (which seems fair, both are themepark mmos and clearly get inspired by each other), we're told to go play other games. At this point I feel like they enjoy more this game simply because they can use it to justify trashing WoW or Blizzard. I see it all the time on reddit, people are able to insert some snarky comment regarding WoW in every single FFXIV discussion. It's tiring.Telling us to go play WoW instead of airing our legitimate grievances over the game we've enjoyed the past decade. 14 players ability to pretend that literally every single problem in the game is caused by people from WOW never ceases to amaze me, are we really going to argue that 14 players are the ones who want innovation now while WOW refugees want things to remain as they are because of some perceived need to protect what bought them over from WOW
Can we just admit the 14 community is not as nice and more fractures in opinion than we want to
Oh, I don't want to blame WoW players of anything. If anything I hate how people treated most of them during the ShB exodus. FFXIV community is not nice, it's passive-agressive and avoids confrontation and anything that's not "positive". I'm simple pointing out a theme that's recurrent in every discussion. Sometimes we can't compare both games and seeing how they can learn from each other like every other game genre does without turning it into some kind of weird competition.14 players ability to pretend that literally every single problem in the game is caused by people from WOW never ceases to amaze me, are we really going to argue that 14 players are the ones who want innovation now while WOW refugees want things to remain as they are because of some perceived need to protect what bought them over from WOW
