It made sense to absorb them into their main studios and then their talents can be placed under better leadership or hopefully more competent. But the thing is the viewing of content is subjective you say its become very stale and dated...but in comparison to all other top MMOs on the market they are churning out way more way faster. Aspects I agree on is Island Sanctuary not hitting hard but I guessed that when it came out because it was their first jab at this style of content. I can't form an opinion entirely on it until 6.4s expansion for the content...if it's extensive and gives it long-term meaning great..if it doesn't then we will be of a similar mind but once again you cannot go from this forum and reddit to get a 'consensus' from what I have seen is more people enjoy their island more then those that don't but then that's my experience of peoples opinion vs yours.

I think there has already been a lot of QoL this expansion cycle whether that is UI related, cleaning up ARR more with main scenario reworks, dungeon and boss reworks and trials made solo duties...they need to focus on cleaning up the early game to get new players in. They can't always relay on the same group of people...to grow they need to appeal to more people. Cleaning up ARR more, adding in more QoL...adding data centers and worlds in the hopes endwalker launch 2.0 doesn't happen again and then the visual overhaul are all good things that take time and resources away from other things.

I will agree with some of the ideas....criterion being one of them...however I am hoping they can view the feedback from their first one which was mainly lack of reward or incentive to run it after you got it all they can revamp it and make it lucrative. I think they can do it but we will have to see.. if we get another dud where the rewards and incentive to run ain't there...then by all means we will be of similar mind. I do want to be playing FF14 more than I do and have things to do however I don't want to feel obligated to play it to get everything I need to continue being relevant. I am thankful I can skip a few days and play other games or have a long day at work and know me not grinding something is not going to screw me long term. They just need to strike that better balance that I agree.

Isn't ARR pretty much being left alone now since the last MSQ squish? I vaguely remember it being said that everything still in there is relevant to the new player experience & story. The dungeon updates were nice but I don't really see how else they can fine tune it.

Well if we go from say ARR to before HW they have over the last year and a bit redone the ARR to post ARR quest squish like you mentioned, put flying in ARR zones, Reworked around 5 dungeons boss fights so they are updated to the new standards and introduce players into now main stay mechanics. Remade Tam tara, changed the layouts of 2 other dungeons granted those were minor. Remade the King moogle mog, taken out 2 trials and made them solo duties which are way more engaging. Reworked and in some instances remade aspects of both Castrum and prae in the main scenario roulette. Duty support being added to all dungeons all the way up to Stormblood so far. These aren't small changes...these are to make the beginning more lucrative for new players because there is a high wall to get over to get 'to the good bit' so they seem adamant on making players do that bit, it makes sense to change and make it more 2023 FF14 then 2014 FF14.

sadly before people find their self respect shit will not change
I'd say that's most likely because a lot of players are new to the game and a "new" MMO with multiple expansions tends to have a lot to keep you occupied. The MSQ is huge, the duties feel somewhat challenging to a new player, FATEs are new, the crafting system feels unique and honestly the music and aesthetics for a lot of the raids and trials are great. There are a lot of good points to this game. It's only when you settle into endgame and get better at playing that you start to realize there's no substance behind the flashiness, crafting barely has a point, QoL will never really improve and jobs have an extremely low skill ceiling.

I'd imagine if there was going to be a sub drop, it'll be a year or two. But the devs and many players don't get this. They've let success go to their heads and have taken it as a sign of "we must be doing it right!". FFXIV is very focused on short term entertainment now and lacking terribly in long term value. So it's not surprising subs haven't dropped yet, but I really can't see years of FATE's, grinding tomes, unchanging bland jobs and an ever expanding and ever messier forced MSQ holding people forever.

in think that is what they plan for the next 10 years .more of the same and more solo play. hell people are now full time decorating the FC home and shit like this. i am surprised how many people do JUST this. but all hope that the next thing be it. only for it to be as bland as ever.

What do you mean "now"? Back in HSW you still met people whose only focus was crafting and decorating houses. Some people specifically only care about GPose. It isn't new :| just more prevalent. But a lot of communities in FF14 started being more vocal since we started getting more people and attention.

6.5 is going to be the real "highlight" because it'll essentially be the same as 6.3 with almost nothing to do except with a much longer delay as the last major patch leading into an expansion is usually in the 5-6 month range. Criterion is literally the only thing slated as a "big new addition" for 6.5. I still wonder if we'll actually get three of them, especially if reception doesn't improve. Of course, you'll get the same crown saying to take breaks or just wait for the expansion and etc but it'll be curious to see how many people start to notice unless they have a large backlog of things to do... this game has decidedly few new bits of content and almost none of it has any longevity.

I have a dreaded feeling that 7.0 is still at least 2 years away. Probably releasing at like mid-2025.
