They should just showcase it in white and red instead of blue and red and it could be inspired by pretty much any folk costume.
Someone also go cry to the people of Graubunden Switzerland for stealing the sami folk clothing.

The whole problem I have with this is that the Sami aren't innocent.
Yeah, they got mistreated in the past, but now they're using that fact to bully people into submission when it comes to ANYTHING they can profit from.
As such, this "demand" needs ignored, and they can get bent.
It's always interesting to see how any kind of marginalized minority is instantly branded as rude, offensive and overreacting by uninformed people with no relationship to the topic nor interest in educating themselves. They attached a video to the tweet where they shared this where they said they had contacted SE through the "proper" channels politely in the past and got ignored. They are not standing with pitchforks and torches in front of Yoshi-P's home or anything, they simply ask for people to be respectful. But of course this is way too much to ask, how dare they standing up for themselves in a manner it doesn't cater to priviliged people's comfort.
All of this would be a non-issue if SE would have done the bare minimum of contacting Saami people before claiming their traditional wear which is far more than just "fashion" to them. So please blame SE for being lazy, not Saami for wanting people not to make money off of their culture.

Do you live in a country that's having to kowtow to their demands? It's always interesting to see how any kind of marginalized minority is instantly branded as rude, offensive and overreacting by uninformed people with no relationship to the topic nor interest in educating themselves. I do. It's ridiculous. I owe them nothing. I owe no one anything.
So they sent a letter asking for money. Got it. Lol. Love to the contrary where to some people minorities are always oppressed and always correct and vindicated in any action they take. They also weren’t ignored, they got a reply they didn’t share. I wonder why? It's always interesting to see how any kind of marginalized minority is instantly branded as rude, offensive and overreacting by uninformed people with no relationship to the topic nor interest in educating themselves. Money automatically makes things non offensive anymore didn’t you know?

That's right, you specifically don't owe them anything. But you are also not the huge company who used an almost copy of their traditional garb and sold it for a lot of money on a store for a famous MMO. The council is not asking you personally for anything. They are asking a big multimillion dollar company profiting off of something dear to them.
Cultural appropriation is the very foundation of how we as a species progress. Someone invents a different and potentially better way of doing something or creates new clothing or tools that are useful and this knowledge gets picked up by other groups of people and incorporated into their ways of doing things. Bleating about cultural appropriation being bad is basically just another way of saying "I have no idea how human societies work and I want civilization to stagnate and end". Now, on the other hand, if someone goes out of their way to use things from other cultures in an attempt to just mock them, THEN that is rude and counter-productive.
This is nothing more than a small group of hucksters trying to hop on the grievance industry bandwagon in search of free money.
While I respect the rights of a cultural identity to protect itself... It's ironic that they're complaining about this after already selling out to Disney...
They sound like they just want money.
