It costs nothing to be nice to people when offering criticism.

It may not get anywhere sure given the trolly nature of this thread, but what you said still has alot of merit.

To me, this is almost a 'treat others the way you want to be treated yourself' situation. When I am messing up, I would like someone to tell me in a "Hay tank, you should try and do it this way" type of thing rather then "Stupid tank does not know how to play lol" or something akin to that. Being kind in offering criticism is not a weakness or hard, and more often then not I have seen people respond to such criticism better too. Sure, sometimes people will respond to even kindness with sarcasm or anger, but does retaliating in kind help at all? It seems to me that by that point, you are not helping them at all by entering into a childless shouting match. Do you think you can out-anger them to change their playstyle? You are just letting negative emotions guide your keyboard. Like you say, no one has any idea of who these people are behind the avatars, and thats the thing, they are people! (Unless you are telling Alisaie to use AOE in Trusts, which does not work, I have tried!) all with their own flaws, misunderstands or mood. Is attacking them for the sake of feeling superior really worth it at that stage? Mayhaps some see it as weakness, but by then I would rather endure whatever bad the player is doing until the Duty ends, or perhaps initiate a Kick if its really hurting then trade venomous retorts and hamper everyones enjoyment. Though I do not think I have ever been in a party bad enough to have warranted that.

I will say one possibly hypocritical exception, perhaps, is when such arguments cross the line about gameplay to personal attacks that include slurs, ableism ect. To which I do not mean attacking back in kind, thats just pathetic! No I mean more calling out when someone is being a dick. Even then I would say silence would often be the best retort as they could just be screaming for attention. Whilst I have not experienced anything as bad aimed at myself, I have seen more then a few Raids turn ugly like that.

1.
A: "you suck as a tank"
B: "no I don't, *vote kicks with friend*
A: *comes to forum to complain about someone being soy*

B: "I'm sorry.." (doesn't fight back)

Because OP is implying the situation two is soy, but I'm seeing a lot of posts in the thread saying one is soy. So which is it? Is fighting back and calling someone toxic and kicking them soy? or is NOT fighting back and being passive (no testosterone according to OP) soy?

Not all criticism needs to be constructive. It’s up to the individual to create the results they want after receiving criticism.

Do you want to get offended that someone said something you don’t like? Throw a children’s tantrum because your feelings are hurt? Or turn it into something positive by exploring avenues in which to make yourself better.

The power is in your own hands. Most just lack self control to pull up their socks and handle it in a constructive way

^ This exactly. It's on the person themselves to fix their poor gameplay, not on the person being critical to clean up someone else's act.

Thats not really the point or the issue with just Criticizing someone and not being Constructive about it.
The idea isn't to baby them and play the game for them, you can be harsh and mean, even though that often times isnt helpful, but the idea is to help someone improve.

Thats part of Fostering a Good Community, and helping people become Better Players. "Your Garbage, play a different Class" or dumb stuff like "Uninstall the game" isnt helpful Criticism, and it does nothing and offers nothing.
If you are legit trying to help someone and they get all aggro about it, then thats a different story. But just insulting someone Full stop doesn't do anything, and its dumb to think it would be encouraging..

The irony of this post calling something “toxic”. A buzz word to insult something you disagree with but the amount of posts you make that exhibit the traits you personally speak against.

I already said earlier, at minimum the criticism makes someone aware there is an issue. Do with the criticism what you will. But calling it “toxic” is a good way to get ignored for an overused, and now meaningless word

Toxic is a buzzword. Just because it’s a commonly used part of your vocabulary doesn’t change its state

Criticism: use of buzzwords to insult people while you claiming it’s not

Solution: offered to Google or suggested you do it

Also don’t be coy. You are well aware that is an insult. If you’re not, then I question your perspective on any other interaction
