Every time they removed Energy Drain it broke the job because there was nothing to dump stacks on in the likely chance you only had to burn one on Soil. Not to mention maximizing its usage is Scholar's only form of skill expression. Lustrate still sees use if Excog is on CD or if someone took an unnecessary hit that just left them above half and a raidwide is about to go off.

The problem with removing energy drain before was that you have to use ruin II to OGCD weav aetherflow spenders outside of dot reapplication, effectively making dumping aetherflow a dps loss. Since broil's cast time was reduced theres no reason to have energy drain because you can dump with lustrate/extra sacred soil since you no longer have to use ruin II to weave OGCD's.
