I appreciate this design because it removes problems that can occur with tanks who are unfamiliar with the boss or who just simply don't understand what they're doing, which is not infrequent in the DF. If bosses don't reset their position, some mechanics can end up being unavoidable or difficult to avoid. A good tank would know to move the boss back to the center, so it's not a problem for statics, but it could become a real problem in DF normal raids.

For example, imagine a tank who's tanking the 6th Circle on one edge of the platform and she starts doing her spin. It would be a guaranteed wipe.

So definitely limit the change to Savage, and keep the boss position resets for normal.
I completely disagree with that. Positioning is one of the few things tanks still have to do outside of dpsing, it's what makes a tank a tank, and not just in savage. So rather than removing mechanics cause people can't be bothered to learn, we need more of them so that tanks actually do have a chance to practice and learn positioning. You shouldn't have to do savage before you learn how to tank.
