I can understand someone liking Endwalker (even if I would vehemently disagree with that opinion) but wow this community's standards are low if it can't imagine any better possible way to end the story. Either that or it lacks imagination.
Shockingly low standards coupled with a lack of experience with other MMORPGs/RPGs in general can be pointed to for a number of glaring issues a certain subset of players are not only willing to let slide, but ardently defend in fact.

That's a good point. Except...most online games try to get new people as well, not just cater to old players. You might not think that's necessary with FFXIV due to its immaculate perfection, but even the developers agree that the game could use more players. They significantly changed the combat with Shadowbringers, as you likely remember. They also redid a lot of older content. Yoshida is on record as saying that he wants to help newer players. You disagree with him. Why?
Oh, that's right...you predate Yoshida too...
I've been playing rpgs since Legend of Dragoon and STILL believe EW has been some of the best in the space. Flaws and all. You need to remember not everyone is gonna see things the way you do or absorb things in the same manner. Something a few of you here miss. If the issues are truly glaring to that degree as you say you'd get FAR more blowback like what happened with 1.0.
I wouldn't be wrong in saying most of the community enjoyed EW. I'm not foolish enough to say all these people just have low standards and little to no rpg experience. That's dismissive and unfair. It does the very thing you've claimed is happening to people like you.

6.3 seems like weak anime filler since they rushed their story to it's end and have nothing to work off of until 7.0. Wouldn't surprise me if the shift in writing wasn't because of all the hastily introduced story arcs that were just as quickly dropped pissed their writers off and they were more then happy to jump ship to FF16. I don't really expect Golbez to live past 6.4 or 6.5. They will probably top off 6.X with Zeromus and call it a day.
The 0 to 100 and 100 to 0 pacing issues plague all of Endwalker when Shadowbringers was a much more cohesive and digestible story to consume. They served us a Steak and then gave us a undercooked Burger as their last entree. Pretty sad.
But Endwalker sold very well so I guess that's all that matters. FF14 may very well become one of those games you play to the end and then move on to something else.
No one can miss the point or the sarcasm this badly unless they're trying to. The key to trolling is to not try so hard, but points for effort! That's a good point. I mean... thats kinda rubbish. Art is subjective. If people prefer your work then good for them, but plenty of people enjoyed Endwalker and found that a worthy conclusion. It may have its flaws sure, but name a piece of fiction that doesn't! (I am sorry but even your rewrite will likely subjective have flaws) One of the joins of storytelling is its diversity in subject and character matter, adding into the countless ways one can tell said story. Be my guest and disagree with said stories, characters and writing avenues. It would be boring if we all failed to examine these things with critical eyes. But to belittle those who do connect with a story, in spiteful ways I may add, and declare them void just seems… its a toxic way to engae with the lore I feel.I suppose I differ in that I definitely know that I and many others could easily provide a better story than what we got in Endwalker. Apart from my own rewrite which can be found here there have been multiple ones that have expanded upon and fleshed out territories such as Nhalmasque, the northern parts of Thavnair, etc.
you cant POSSIBLY be implying that the OP is a hypocriteI wouldn't be wrong in saying most of the community enjoyed EW. they are the gods very own gift to gaming!!! they can write better, code better, heck, do anything and everything better. I cant wait until their game comes out so we can see what perfection looks like.
I mean, if we're trying to say that "perfection" is a requirement to post an opinion about FFXIV, then the forums should really just be dead.
On topic, I also have found the story boring, and found myself playing it once to go through it with friends and haven't had any desire to go through even the dungeons since. It's a shame, because it would be nice to enjoy the writing, but it's just not working for me. Thus, I pvp.
