I do not care whether or not the music dude had cancer or not - my issue is with other sectors of the game pertaining to story and gameplay and the fact that you brought this up to back up your gotcha is behavior that you should strongly reconsider.

This wasn't a Gotcha or a Weapon.
Its an example and proof that this games community is large and strong. And that this 'backlash' is quite small despite how much you like act like its huge.
Not to discount any of them. But in the grand scheme its quite small compared to people who love and enjoy the game.

I mean aveyond wouldn't get subtlety unless it hit them in the face.... case in point the food scenes etc. I want to understand some of the views they're making but they tarnish it with this bullying mentality to others who don't agree. Heavensward was a great experience but technically even that undone 'death' for instance. Also had many light moments or scenes that could of been darker but didn't. The games age rating is 13+ not saying you can't right more grittier stories...but comparing even to 16 which is the first mainline mature title outside of the spinoffs is silly. Just cause you put blood, sex, violence doesn't make something gritty or dark. There has been plenty of dark scenes in 14 all throughout.

Yet according to the OP if you liked Heavensward then you should also love Heavensward 2 even if it's exactly the same with maybe a small twist. I.E all the Scions even the ones we just got or haven't had much screen time dead and probably even some of the state leaders also dying cause why not. With Garlemald somehow raising from the ashes like some kind if Phoenix and at the strength they were at at the start of ARR where they took over all of the three continents. Oh and ah no food sceens or light banter until the .4 patch cause any time before then would be too soon. Oh and um Magnai finally showed that godawful Sadu how much of a chad he is. While Zenos was brought back from the dead with of half of Ul'dah or some crap used as a sacrifice to make it happen cause that's the sort of thing he says he'd enjoy. That you by just also enjoying Heavensward should also want and will end up liking.

Heavenward and stormblood both had fake-out deaths.....not saying who just in case but it occurred in them as well. They had downtime, they had filler, they had levity in spades....Maybe if we got the original concept of the Garlemald expansion first then we wouldn't have to endure this incessant whining but that is another timeline...maybe where there is more than 27 million registered users and rising.

Likewise. However if Hiroi messes up the ending to Pandaemonium in 6.4 then I will flat out refuse to play a 7.0 written by him. I've already been burned enough by Ishikawa's bait and switch, I'll not be going through that again anytime soon. This is the first time in a decade when I've even had to consider not buying the next expansion, all of it due to how badly Endwalker set multiple aspects of the game on fire with story just being one of many key failings that no one seems willing to address.

To be honest, i can't imagine a better way to end a story written during 10 years. The same thing happen with movies or books trilogies: the final isn't always satisfying as the middle.
However, as i see myself unable to provide a better story, i have some technical points about the FFXIV MSQ overall:

Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker shares the same problem: lack of SCALE (in every aspect). Often i was expecting some huge battle and happens too little, too late. They could use SQUADRON system where you control your party during some epic battles against dragons or the empire. I feel like Garlemald was lazy but they gave us reasons during our MSQ, using Bozjan as the peak: the empire was falling, we had no reason to expect something big. We don't know how much the engine sucks to create such conditions. Anyway, my favorite dungeon is The Ghimlyt Dark.

In the end, for the FFXIV i don't have enormous expectations, i am happy with the current effort. My hype lies on the next FF where we will see Yoshi P leading a new project from the scratch.
I see FFXIV as a test chamber for the next FF, that's why we have better and smooth animations as the time goes on: probably they will be constantly present on the next online title.


I would not worry about 7.0 writing, its just like the music: Soken isn't the creator of all musics but he watches closely. It's important to create new talents to bring original content and ideas.

I suppose I differ in that I definitely know that I and many others could easily provide a better story than what we got in Endwalker. Apart from my own rewrite which can be found here there have been multiple ones that have expanded upon and fleshed out territories such as Nhalmasque, the northern parts of Thavnair, etc.

Each of these has my support when compared to this expansion which amounted to little more than a spat between multiple poorly written ocs that nearly ended all life in the universe. Spending more time and getting to know a region definitely helped me feel more at home in the game when it came to Ishgard only for Stormblood to do the complete opposite and then for Yoshi to double down on that sort of area design in Endwalker. Did he not get the memo that splitting up massive swathes of land like that and having us hop around like that was responsible in part for some of Stormblood's writing critiques?

I guess we'll have to wait on Tweetingway to let him know. Maybe someday.

Entertaining as always. Not much to rehash but I clicked on this thread before I got to msq content but luckily wasn't spoiled despite my foolishness, but I was actually interested in the scenes featuring Zero if only to see if the complaints were sensible let alone valid. And after doing so I have to believe OP and the people who share some of his points must either be playing completely different versions of the story or have the sourest of grapes going in and so are wildly misinterpreting anything and everything they can to fit their notions going in.

But yeah not much else to say. I like the story and I've been here since 1.0 beta so if anything I don't like OP trying to change "MY" game into something he wants since he started playing way after me, like he accuses those who disagree of trying. Appeals to authority/seniority feel gross, never doing that again.

Huh...good question. I tried looking it up but keep finding youtube videos of it but no info on it.
