Abuse the level sync? I don't know what you mean, but I'll try my best..

Leveling and NM prep groups are separated for the most part and most players are either doing NM prep or bunnies, so you can join a prep group but you'll almost never get exp unless they're within 2 levels from you. It's common for all of the NM prep groups to be max level for that zone. Sometimes NM groups take up good exp spots so you need to leave. You can only form a prep group for exp if you manage every player and kick them as soon as they level above the rest. Even exp groups need to cull often. Kicking players to keep group exp optimal feels bad, because 1 player that levels above the range can cut your exp by basically half.

Also there are like 4 different 'cheese strats', some depend on specific groups of mobs, some are best solo, some require a high level friend. But ultimately they gain at roughly the same or worse rate as 2 players at the same level killing things optimally - Where 1 is a tank and the other DPS or Heal, by keeping chains up 1-5lv above you, and ideally have a chance to mutate. The 'cheese' isn't really getting you amazing exp, it's just to let you solo better, or play with a higher level friend.

2 players doing DPS and pulling massive groups is much quicker than the cheese of 1 DPS getting healed by their buddy. lol

Okay, so I was thinking something different. Thank you for clarifying that \o/

What I had in mind was to have the group prep an NM in appropriate level range. Let's say, newcomer is a lv8 in Anemos and the friend is a capped lv60 in Eureka:
    • The group can pick any NM that syncs the helper friend within 8 level in difference vs the newcomer.
    • Once the NM spawns, instead of killing off the NM, let the helper gather up mobs -around- the NMs instead while making sure the mobs aren't anywhere higher than 8 levels vs the newcomer; I find 4-6 higher levels are the sweet number. But sometimes even 1-2 or 7-8 higher levels in difference are still faster than any other cheese strats I've read due to sheer number of mobs you can pull and easily kill.
    • Drop those mobs down to critical HP then hit that "Lv Sync" before finishing off the pull while making sure both helper and newcomer can see each other's name in party list lights up.

I'm not entirely sure how your DC's NM etiquette works. Over here if you're the prepper, the group have roughly 3 minutes before the NM is pulled provided the PT is being called, and additional 1-2 minute before the NM dies. This is plenty of time for a massive experience gain. No deleveling or exiting party required. One-two levels per NM is almost guaranteed; more if the helper is uberly geared with elemental bonus items unless the NM is pulled early for whatever reason. Bunny FATE is also available for the abuse if they're around & will not disrupt anybody in the zone.

The only downside to this is if you happened to zone in into juiced instance with no appropriate NMs left spawn. But between Anemos' least activeness and the other 3 zones providing bunny FATEs, I find that particular situation is rather... uncommon. There's always at least 1 FATE that can be used to abuse the lv sync.

EDIT: In other day I found somebody shouting in Pagos about leaving the lv25 NM alone to facilitate this abuse and the zone complies. They took their sweet 10 minutes before eventually decided they've had enough. While I think this is also viable, I'm not quite a fan of holding the NM on hostage, but I guess it also worked... not something I'd do though, hence my 3-5 minutes limitations.

That one's actually new to me! I think it might require too many braincells for Aether. lol

As a solo player, you can wait for NM pop - But problem I found was the first half of the levels in each zone you're mostly left out. Hydatos doesn't have it so bad because the zone is open* and high levels are near base, so you can just sit at base and as a low level people are OK with you waiting for NM pop. This issue is especially bad in Pagos & Pyros because your selection is slim and travel is too slow/dangerous.

All's good, glad to share the tricks.

For first half of the levels each zone, I find this is only an issue for Anemos specifically because they don't have constant supply of low lv range of NM/FATE while the other 3 zones have virtually 100% active bunny FATE around. In Pagos, it's very easy to power level folks quickly from 17 to 24 around the south bunny FATE. From that point, the newbie friend only have to gain 3 levels elsewhere to reach lv27, which again puts them within the eligible lv range to receive experience from their lv35 helper friend's kills.

Pyros is no different except with the added icing: logos actions, which gives more power to solo player to make their lives easier (Platebearer and Bloodbath says hello). South bunny fate lv sync can be used to easily bring the newcomer lv to 38-39 range. After that they just have to gain 2-3 additional levels to reach lv41 which puts them in eligible range to yet another cheese strat: reflect cheese up to lv50. Or 60 even if you want to count Hydatos' because the entire lv range of Hydatos can also be cheesed with reflects.

The reason why I think they will nerf the experience gain from mob should permanent level sync became a thing is because that's essentially making the experience gain akin to the rate of reflect cheese at Pyros/Hydatos available virtually -anywhere- within Eureka, and I'm sure people know just how ridiculously fast reflect cheese method is to level up.

All they really need to do to prevent the cheese is to add some physical mobs around the magic, or blood sense?

This is all why I love Eureka, there's so much nuance to everything, and different ways to do stuff. I only wish we could sync at will to help in a non-cheese way if we wanted.

One way to make it even faster is to let the reflector stays reflecting while the helper stays in party, killing the physical mobs around the reflector. Couldn't remember exactly how much long this process from lv42 to 50, but I think I remember reading my friend saying they only used up 2 plates of Reflects (198 reflect charges in total). Solo player using solely reflects to cheese also doesn't have to worry about travel time from each NM's sites or wait time. They can just keep going on. You are right about the diminishing return though, which usually starts to kick in once the player hits lv47. At that point if they can land themselves an active high end NM prep group they will level faster in those groups.

All they really need to do to prevent the cheese is to add some physical mobs around the magic, or blood sense?
This already exist.... somewhat in Hydatos mammets (far northwest corner) that people use to reflect cheese from lv50-57. If folks attempts this cheese strat during nighttime, the mammets will mutate and start performing physical attack (which guaranteed to instantly kill the reflector because they're always doing this naked lmao).

This is in response to the current thread about why Eureka sucks.

We need Eureka Level Sync, so we can help the friends that are just starting in Eureka. It's nearly impossible for us to guide and assist them outside of attempting to spawn FATEs. De-Leveling is a poor way to help players.

The system exists, please enable it for Eureka. Let us Sync down to the lowest level in the party.

I can understand why some folks would not want a Eureka level sync. I mean, unless they rewrite how the Forbidden Land challenge logs work, you could absolutely abuse a straight level sync to cheese those. So I'm going to pose a secondary question here: if you don't like the idea of a level sync, what alternative would you propose to let higher-level folks come actually do things with lower-level friends?

In particular, consider the example I gave of folks in my FC who want to do Eureka, but don't want to do it solo. Eureka veterans are happy to go in with them, but until they get near a zone's cap, all we can do with them is either wander off to spawn NMs (and then party up and level sync for the NM) or XP-cheese them through a zone.

My FC usually settles on the former, because it's marginally less mindless than cheeseball power-leveling... but it's still a bummer, because you have to leave the low-level person to wander off and do stuff on their own, while the high-level folks group up and head off to try to get level-appropriate NMs to spawn for them.

The fact that Eureka penalizes folks for grouping up to play with others (if there's any sort of level differential) feels backwards, in an MMO... especially when the content is no longer current and thus no longer as active.

So, if you aren't in favor of a general party level sync to let the higher-level Eureka veterans level down to stay partied with their new-to-Eureka friends, what alternative fix for that scenario would you propose?

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

    What Eureka is Really About

First off, I appreciate the time you all are taking to read this. When I write why I cannot support the petition, I speak on the journey Eureka and the overall impact this specific content had on me as a person. I implore you to listen to my story as it is long but will be broken down into 4 sections. This will hopefully give you clarity on why I make my stance on keeping Eureka the way it is.

    Anemos:
I embarked on my journey with the intention of grinding well over 50 hours to equip my secondary class (PLD) with his elemental gears for glamour purposes. I crafted over 100 EXP pots and invested about 300k in high end foods in preparation. I had no help from levels, 1-15. I did all content alone. I did not die but there were very few people around and it was only until I activated a fate by accident did I start to understand the rules set in place. I was encouraged to be more vocal in chat for fates and spent well over 10 hours in Anemos. This time investment allowed me to fully understand the mechanics in Eureka as well as limit test my PLD. This time investment was completely worth it, and I still had drive to get my elemental armor.

    Pagos:
For the first few levels in Pagos, I again was alone. I had no help, and I was punished severely for my mistakes. I died a few times and due to no rezzing from anyone. I truly felt alone, and it was entirely up to me to get the elemental armor. This section, of my journey taught me many things such as patience and to take it upon myself to group up with people my level. In essence, my leadership skills dramatically increased during this time, and I felt responsible for keeping my party alive at all costs because I fully understood what happens if I failed. Again, I was doing this for my Paladin. I created parties and mass pulled like old MMOs. I made it my mission to get everyone past this section in my moments of despair of giving up on my goals to get the armor. I spent roughly 15 hours getting to 35 by leading my parties and keeping them alive.

    Pyros:
35 hours in and my drive was brighter than ever because of the trials I endured in the past 2 sections. I was able to get into fate parties easier and my goals slowly started to shift from getting the armor to the actual journey and friends made along the way. Pyros, is the place where flames go out due to burn out and I did suffer this part way but the comradery of spamming the red yeti dance and the mutual teamwork of working together made the 10 to 13 hours go by much faster. I continued to hone my skills of my PLD and had newfound vigor to transcend the limits of what I can accomplish with my class. This was also the time where I started noticing the bunny botting and RMT chicanery from leveled alts which could only be possible from taking advantage of the challenge log to power level accounts.

    Hydratos:
45 hours in I was in the homestretch and completely shifted my mindset from the gears to pushing my class to the limits and making more friends in the process. The bunny bots still are here which is a shame. I received my elemental armor around the 51st hour.

    In Summary:
Eureka is more than a relic/armor hunt. It is a journey to self-improvement and by continuing to dumb down the exp to make things easier to new people. You are depriving them of reaching their full potential. There is a reason why so few people have elemental armor. The ones who failed are the ones who gave up climbing the mountain of Eureka and failed to transcend to their highest potential. They failed to adapt and be resilient/patient enough to make the climb. The journey to achieve it as well as the lessons I learned far outclass the look on the armor. That's when I fully understood what Eureka is really about. It is a way to push yourself to your absolute limits as both your class and you as a person. To never give into despair and be the voice for the voiceless. To stand firm on what you want and don't let anyone hold you back. To never surrender when things go awry. The armor itself is reflective of how much you have grown and transcended. This would never be possible without the time investment.

    On a side note:
Dumbing down the EXP will only increase bunny bots and ruin the market.
