So let's change up my analogy a little here.

There is a limited run item, that is only for sale for a week, never to return. You're out of country on vacation, not knowing it is going on sale because the flyer advertising it is delivered the day AFTER you leave(so say Garo event started the day after you took a break from the game, not even looking at things upcoming/news while taking your break). And the item goes on sale the week before you come back. You get home from your vacation, see your flyers, and see that item you would have loved to get. Do you go to the manager and complain you missed it?

That analogy still falls flat. You are comparing a week long sale to an event that lasted for over a year came back for another year, lol.
Eh, i'm not going to argue about this mess. People are happy that we are got battle passes for this game and who am I to stop the masses from enjoying themselves? I'm just pointing out that battle passes are FOMO incarnate but people like battle passes so i'm just _____ in the wind, lol.
