Why so much in-game racism?

So it's all memes like the "cooking lala" jokes here, right? Even the devs do some of that themselves. It might make some people uncomfortable, but overall every race in this game has something to pick up on. Though, I will admit, I'd rather some jokes were a bit more original.

Nothing like calling people pedophile or zoophile for playing a given race, yes?

I've been called boring and unoriginal for playing the standard human race so... Everyone gets it.
