But FFXIV doesn't have enough sinks to take the gold out of the system once it's created so freely. So the rarer items will become more expensive. Instead of 1 gilcap FC house sales you will see 10 gilcap FC house sales. How many months of free playtime will a gil farmer in Shanghai get by using every trick possible to snap up all available housing then selling it to people for their cash-bought gil?

‘Tis merely a proposal with the game code that they could do. FFXIV is far more malleable than other games when it comes to modding, and has a more robust modding scene than most online games. That includes various APIs that can access game files, logs, memory, and even server calls to assist a bot in harvesting mats for sale. The marketboard itself is heavily automated, both by end users and bots, with these easily-available plugins and APIs. Sure, other games have bots too. But FFXIV is distinguished by being easy to mod for just about everyone. Perhaps SE could change that!

Also, user reports no doubt count for a large portion of those banned, as it’s the only thing that the in-line chat report feature can be used for.

The matter of the fact is, they need to start banning the buyers. they take care of the RMT market, and suddenly the bots wont be as much of a problem. its really that simple. you start taking action against the player buying the gil, and buying gil no longer seems risk free or attractive. end of story. it works.
