I doubt they'll address raise. What they mean by action changes is probably in sole relation to the PLD rework.
Call me cynical but I only see bandaids coming otherwise.

That's been the history of it.
We are unlikely to see major class revamps other than those specified. Just a quick glance at our data now that it's not severely disparate due to early item level advantages, I think a healthy expectation would be seeing the lower performers getting a 3% increase or so.
Yay.

Why are you talking about friendliness? That's not being elite, that's being objective. You can usually categorize people. For example you can have people and have them be considered Casual/Hardcore & Toxic/Friendly
You can have an Hardcore player who is friendly. You can have a toxic casual. Those conditions are usually rarer.
So you can definitely have a friendly casual that really cares about damage on content he doesn't do. By content, you have Ultimates, Savage, Extreme/Raid, Relic, PvP and so on. I can tell you with a certitude that a player who doesn't do ultimate or savage usually most of them won't care if their job underperform. Even among hardcores, players usually pick what they like to play. It's not because Machinist is bottom of the barrel that it'll prevent players from playing Machinist.
So yeah, there is a chance one player who is extremely good at the game and likes damage and actually know what he's talking about will go on OF and give his input. Normally he'll make a lot of sense and it'll work just fine. However, if you have a player who comes in here and have no idea what he's talking about. Someone, iunno, I'll put Firemage Li as an example, then people will background check him because he doesn't make sense. It's not being an elite. It's being, "Who is this dude who clearly have a unique way of thinking that nobody agrees on. What kind of God player is he?" Well, if you background check, he's a 1 trick RDM player since Stormblood. He only plays and favors outwardly RDM so when he says something like... lemme pick a quote that he said.
You shouldn't classify people with all kinds of capabilities and focus as just like your BRD friend until they prove otherwise. Casual does not equal bad. There are people that get carried in savage. There are even people that pay to get carried in content or have someone play for them. People clearing by certain points seems to be an indicator to you. Why? If they aren't talking about world first, what does it matter what week they clear?
Who cares what that RDM thinks. He continues to say dumb things.
Let's put it this way. Do you think the announcer Al Michaels, a man that has announced professional football games (and other sports) for decades, knows less about football than a player in their sophomore season in the NFL? According to you that young player would know a lot more, because Michaels never played a down in the NFL. Michaels didn't experience it like the player has.

My apologies if this is a silly question, but are these so-called ranged taxes really a thing? I've come late to this party and am somewhat lacking in much of a understanding of the game mechanics with respect to job balance. If these ranged taxes are indeed a thing, it doesn't really seem to make much sense when looking at fight mechanics. I play mostly as BLM and to be honest, more often than not it's safer to be almost hugging the bosses than it is standing back, as the AoEs they sling seem to cover the whole darned combat area. It's actually easier in a lot of cases (cone-based attacks for example) to avoid hits by being up close and personal.
Older fights used to push melee out of melee range quite frequently thus melee tended to always have higher dps to make up for the loss of uptime while physical ranged could potentially do all mechanics while having 100% uptime. The ranged tax never applied to magical ranged dps. Yoshi-P basically acknowledged this the other day in the recent live letter with the changes to the boss hitboxes which has lead to melee essentially having 100% uptime leading to the bigger gap between melee and physical ranged and all ranged are apparently getting potency buffs in 6.28.My apologies if this is a silly question, but are these so-called ranged taxes really a thing? Thank you sir for telling me to continue playing a job that underperforms because it's been considered "too easy" or a "noob job", and that is only taken in parties to fill up the role party bonus. Wouldn't blame you though since it seems to be the design process behind SE's balancing though.
Oh right, if i'm not happy I should just play a job that I don't enjoy, right, how could I forget about that.
It's not a new problem, melees were already way above taxed jobs and it's been like this since HW. The gap, mind you, was here on the final results, not theorically, but on actual fights with uptime already happening.Older fights used to push melee out of melee range quite frequently thus melee tended to always have higher dps to make up for the loss of uptime while physical ranged could potentially do all mechanics while having 100% uptime. Difficulty is subjective.
I find redmage incredibly easy to play compared to mch, therefore by this logic i think red mage should do less damage than mch
This is a horrible balancing metric.
Proper balance is more important than what you like to playThank you sir for telling me to continue playing a job that underperforms because it's been considered "too easy" or a "noob job", and that is only taken in parties to fill up the role party bonus. Are we really going to waste days proving once again that difficulty is subjective?
Even something as simple as walking is different from person to person.
Be it health condition, bad shoes/high heels or lack of exercise, there are many reasons why walking can be a different experience depending on the context.
