Brian from Work 2 Game is leaving FFXIV

Sad to him go but has a life he has to do which is important. Also he has discussed that the community has changed over the years and doesn't feel the same anymore. I been in FFXIV for 8 years and it has changed over the years. Toxic positivity has been rising, constructive criticism is booed off.

There is times I have thought of quitting FFXIV myself. I feel like content has been lackluster for a while and the things people want changed just doesn't happen. If the rate the game has been going will this really last 10 more years? IDK I hope it does but also the game itself has been feeling stagnant.

I do feel that something's gotta give if they want the game to last that long. A lot of their recent and semi-recent development decisions are real headscratchers.

He also feels that FFXIV just doesn't take risks at all. Either if they are afraid, financial reasons or just burnt out. I really wish Yoshi P will wake up and not become complacent in his creation as it seems he has been doing

Maybe or maybe not but you have to see that FFXIV is becoming stale and Yoshi doesn't take risks to invigorate the game anymore. Look at the variant dungeon and how lackluster the rewards are. Island sanctuary was very lackluster in what we got to do.

Every MMO has problems and unless you focus on the positives and enjoy those you'll never be happy in them. If toxic positivity exists as you claim, then toxic negativity definitely does on this forum.

There is definitely not a lack of content but it might be content that you aren't interested in or that you only decide to do once because you don't care about the rewards.

They need to figure out something with the battle system. The global cool down 1 2 3 gameplay is kind of meh at this point.

They've got some rather odd split directions with content that largely feel like they are competing with each other. On one hand there is high tier raiding in savage and on the other hand there's time grinding stuff and now exclusive seasonal rewards with PvP.

With the amount of content they got, FFXIV really does not need the kind of "bash your head against a number wall" content like Savage anymore. I've been doing it the past couple of tiers and it really starts to feel like "Well this armor looks cool and I'd love to dye it, but I'm spending 12+ hours a week on this and am missing out on stuff that I can much more easily clear without drama or burnout."

They also have a lot of content now that just automatically level syncs your gear to the max for the tier or caps it at an older tier, so it kills the whole point of getting to be "big number man", which is really what savage kind of amounts to. I mean great, you get to do big numbers but so does everyone else in the content that actually matters, not to mention with seasonal rewards you're literally crippling yourself doing the savage fights in terms of rewards. Unless the person doing savage has absolutely no life outside the game itself.

Only focusing on the positives and ignoring the negatives is the equivalent of burying your head in the sand. If you want to do that, more power to you. I'm gonna choose to do the opposite though and focus on both, thanks.
