SE is a small indie company, so they need to make this content last as long as possible as they can only make a small amount of content per month. How dare you want to not have to grind for weeks on end for one piece of gear if you're unlucky!?

They're always hiring. Go work for them and make it better.

I'm hijacking this one. It would be better to create a loot system for savage that gets people to play with one another. Yes, the fights are difficult, but a lot of people who are capable of doing those fights never get to see them because there is no benefit to helping other people get their first clear. In all other content other than savage players who have cleared said content mix with those who don't and get appropriate bonuses for their time. The experience of the recruited players stays about equal relative to the recruiting player. The complete reverse happens with savage content because those that have cleared do not participate. The closer someone is to clearing the worse the recruited party members perform relative to the recruiting player because the pool of players to draw on only includes those that have never cleared. Again, the reason being that the people who have cleared do not get any appropriate rewards for helping those who have not cleared, and the experience of hitting that PUG "enrage to clear" wall is such a terrible experience that the players who cleared it do not want to risk a repeat. So they just never join a clear party again as a rule.

The savage loot system runs counter to the pro-community stance of SE's developers. If we only received books and no more random loot boxes that would actually be better, since they could implement a once-a-week bonus book for helping others clear. That way if someone has already cleared for the week, something like a once-per-week bonus book for helping other teams clear could be implemented. We would see a lot more of the community helping each other in that kind of situation and a lot less elitism/toxicity.

really it's not just that, there simply needs to be at least some form of timegating on some stuff or everyone complains they got nothing to do after 2 days (see island sanctuary)

now one could maybe make an argument for raising the tomestone cap over time (resetting it when new tomestones come out) or uncapping it completly when the alliance raid releases or whatever, but timegating in some form is the lesser of two evils here. it's simply impossible for the developers to create content faster than the player base will burn through, it's like trying to build a bridge faster than you can cross it.

Sure, let me just uproot my entire life, learn an entire new language, and move to the literal other side of the planet because I don't like how a company handles their product. Do you hear how ridiculous you sound? That excuse was idiotic the first time someone said it and it is now.

You also assume that I would be allowed to make the changes needed to fix the underlying issues the game has, which I would most certainly not. That would cost money and time, and to the higher ups at SE, FFXIV's only purpose is to be a cash cow for SE to milk money out of so they can funnel it into other projects. Good luck getting them to put some much needed revenue back into the game.

It's not a timegate existing that's the issue, it's how long the timegate is. In extreme cases, it can take you 16 weeks (an entire major patch cycle assuming you clear week 1) to get BiS from books if your luck is terrible. That's obviously not anywhere close to the average player's experience, but that shouldn't even be a possibility. And that's not even considering people who want to gear multiple roles, which only makes it take even longer. For a game that has the ability to play multiple jobs, it really punishes you for wanting to play multiple types of jobs. It shouldn't take that long to get gear, but SE makes it take that long because there's an unnecessarily long amount of time between major content drops.

Having the cap go up and down just adds to the list of things to possibly get overlooked. They'll play around with adjusting costs before they start fiddling with caps like that. In the meantime, it doesn't look like there will ever be enough support to see any change to the cap.

I'm just following your lead on making outrageous statements. If you want to be ignorant to the very real limitations that exist, then you can expect responses like mine.

I tell people the uncomfortable truth that they don't want to hear, even if it's unpopular to do so. You tell people to move across the planet if they don't like how a company handles their product. If you were genuinely following my example at any point, you have gone astray.

There are very real and genuine reasons why the very basic things you want can't be implemented. Please understand. /s
