I would also support for lower prices for gear so that people can maintain their other jobs but at the end of the day it's all just numbers. You don't REALLY need to have the bis for everything in order to do the contentIt's the classic Yoshi-P moment of "you can unsubscribe and take breaks" but when you look at how timegated any progression is, the actual number of resets in an expansion you can't play for is actually very low. That is part of the business case of making a subscription MMORPG but it's kinda frustrating for to get full tomestone gear for one job, and then upgrading to savage equivalent item level once the alliance raid comes out, you have to play every week for almost an entire patch cycle.
I'd argue it's also a really prominent example of the game not being alt friendly. Want to maintain a character for another region (until we get DC travel across regions)? No catch up, full investment. Want to maintain multiple jobs that are well geared but don't share equipment type? You're out of luck. Now you could say some of this isn't necessary and HQ crafted gear is fine... but the choice of gear should still be there and gearing up really doesn't need to take this long.
You don't NEED best-in-slot and/or highest item level but people LIKE doing it. The game wouldn't suffer if the tomestone cap was doubled to 900 after the first two months of a tier rather than waiting for the alliance raid to launch mid-tier.
There would be even more complaints every time that cap went back down to 450. It doesn't seem worthwhile to fuss with the cap every other cycle and give people more reasons to be annoyed.

Even the japanese forum and ffxivdiscussion have been complaining about this and savage gearing in response to Yoshida asking in the last broadcast "why not play healer" as if XIV doesn't make the process of gearing more than one role impractical.
And will you look at that... The topic in the japanese forum has 159 upvotes. Meanwhile in the United Multi-billionaire Company Ass Kissers of America community this gets 3 upvotes and a bunch of responses making up excuses for the current implementation of endgame gearing.

Rational players would not complain if the developers came out saying "hey, what we're going to do from this point onward is increase the tomestone cap after x weeks each time a new tier of gear is introduced." There will always be irrational players who will complain about things that don't matter. There are 7 players who don't use AoEs in dungeons and we have an entire thread dedicated to it as if it were some kind of game-destroying plague.

To be fair, ffxivdiscussion has purposely made a thread encouraging everyone there to mass upvote the JP post in hopes it'll get some traction. So that's likely why it has such a high number of likes.Even the japanese forum and ffxivdiscussion have been complaining about this and savage gearing in response to Yoshida asking in the last broadcast "why not play healer" as if XIV doesn't make the process of gearing more than one role impractical.

I rather not have to grind more than necessary every week if the tomestone cap gets increase. Rather, I would prefer just lowering the prices or perhaps even give a discount for when purchasing equipment from other roles. Even then I find it amusing how people seem to not have been as smart and not place all their eggs in a single role basket if you get my drift. I have a main role I like to play sure but I always make sure to not neglect my other roles when upgrading their equipment.
Sounds to me people just don't know how to manage their gearing in a game where you can play as any role but maybe I'm just being crazy here.

How many times have they posted about it, I wonder? We see this come up every so often, hence my initial response. Your depiction of the community is way off because people are seldom able to form such a post. Whether it's in-game content or in the forums, JP always have everyone beat on organization.Even the japanese forum and ffxivdiscussion have been complaining about this and savage gearing in response to Yoshida asking in the last broadcast "why not play healer" as if XIV doesn't make the process of gearing more than one role impractical.

they also dropped belts and did not redistribute the costs elsewhere so thats additional tomes you saveThey've already cut tomestone costs where it mattered most, which is taking the cost of weapons from 1000 to 500 tomestones. Simply increasing the weekly tomestone cap also doesn't address the actual bottleneck when it comes to tomestone gear, which is the items to augment them.
You don't really need to do the content.
The argument here is they want to keep us playing. We need a carrot to chase. I don't care if my alt can technically do Savage reclears and doesn't "need" bis, it just feels bad going from a 630 main to a 610 and knowing you'll contribute less to the group. It's not fun and I don't really want to do that. However, I'm also not so desperate to play my alt at BiS level that I'll happily spend over 2 months waiting for tomes and Savage books. I'll just give up do something else until next patch. Thus the system is failing its intended purpose of keeping the raiders playing and instead makes them quit after they've cleared the tier.
