I don't do parse runs. Everything gets uploaded no matter how bad it is. Mine is an accurate account for my static clears and no more.


He's still not that good. You can't just look at highest clear.

Median performance we are equal in most fights, he's better in a couple, I'm better in others.

And we play different jobs, and last tier was the first tier I've played DRG in in.... Since... Gordias lol.

You're assuming he does parse runs. If he's said that he does those somewhere, I'd appreciate a link to that. Otherwise this just seems like reaching to find a way to call Fire Mage bad when the evidence says otherwise. (Not to mention he has a P8S clear, and while it's a pretty bad one, just having one at all makes him a lot better than most)

(although even if he was doing parse runs, I'd still argue that the skill level needed for parse runs already makes you 'elite' considering that the bar is already so low thanks to the vast majority of players in this game being really really bad at the game)

I'm in a very casual static. It fits my availability. I work full time and am in college full time. I don't have hours and hours to push clears early in tiers.

Valkyrie has the higher median average scores. Firemage 22 clears in P4 and 12 of them are grey is not a good look to most people.

Either way, this entire conversation is why I don't like open parsing. I'm only bringing up his stuff to make a point about how negative open parsing would be for PF's.

Casuals need catered to as much as anyone else in this and any other game. They're the most likely to be here one month and then gone, but that month they're around gives the money the game needs to run. The non-hardcore content runners also provide a lot of the community with which hardcore communities are eventually structured around, and much like how Gachas need minnows to keep the whales around, MMOs need casuals for the hardcore to show off to otherwise you see a lot of people bleed out and the game die a slow death; see Mortal Online.

Forgetting that non casuals are why the game is actually afloat

Depends on the goal of the group. Speedrunning the dungeon? Should have full abandoned the dungeon and re-run it.
Killing the dungeon in a reasonable amount of time? Kicking people would cost more time waiting for refills.

Replacements are a dime a dozen

Yet here we are in a highly successful MMO that does just that.

And casualism is not a reason for XIV being highly successful. That's the story and brand name doing the lifting. High end content does more for keeping people around after the aforementioned than anything else

Yoshi doesn't want people witch hunting nor does he want to deal with the massive issue that is placing an anti-cheat system in place and banning every 3pp add-on.

It's a bit frustrating reading through all that fluff though. Just put it out there, plain and simple instead of trying to sugar coat it and keep everyone happy. I prefer things how they are now, but all the formalities and him trying to skirt around just saying it is a bit bothersome.

True. That's not to say that casuals have zero value, but a lot of people tend to undervalue those who aren't hyper casuals.

Eh, I don't think kicking/replacing someone in a dungeon is a good thing to do unless they're actively trolling. It IS casual content, so it's expected that you'll find casuals there.

As much as I hate the recent story, I do have to admit that the story's reputation, while undeserved, is a big reason for why this game is anywhere close to as popular as it is now. And while the story is technically 'casual content', it's not a part of casualism. You are also correct in pointing out that the FF brand probably does grant it a slight advantage over the competition.

While I would hesitate to say you're a god tier gamer or anything (I'm not either so don't take this as bragging or anything), your numbers are high enough where you're clearly not a hyper casual. Not everyone against parsing has poor performance, but I've noticed a trend.

If they just come out and say it, that's a statement they might have to stand by. It's better for them to just hint at stuff and leave the TOS nice and vague so they can twist and bend it to apply to things as they see fit.
