Greetings Fellow Warriors of Light!

I am a relatively new player about 16 months in. The system for acquiring a house is difficult to say the least. There simply isn't a guaranteed way to acquire one. That is a problem for everyone who pays money to play this game. Most items in the game outside of event are achievable by anyone who puts in the time. In addition, crossbreeding is locked to houses only. Quest rewards offer outdoor housing for anyone in the game yet we cannot use them (I have 4 items on my retainer).

To be clear I understand technical issues with assets being loaded in when the server is up. Please do not mention it. if you wish to engage lets talk solutions.

The one I came up with is instanced housing and not loaded up the server. The first instance "house" would be an apartment for the normal price. then one could "upgrade" to a cottage, so on and so forth all the way up to mansion. This would also work as the island sanctuaries in the way that your friends can visit.

To me this seems like a solution that allows anyone(paying customers) to access this part of the game in its entirety.

From what I remember of your post history, you believe everything related to housing is 'locked content'. I think the dead horse really, truly is dead this round of beatings. And, formatted in this very same wording.

Seems simple to me, honestly.

If the end-all, be-all of FFXIV for a person is owning a house, and they've been unable to purchase one, then FFXIV really isn't the game for that person. Housing is a feature of this game, one of hundreds, and hinging an entire gaming experience on one feature doesn't make much sense. Sure, anyone is welcome to hinge their entire experience on housing; that's their prerogative. But to continue banging one's head against the wall because of one feature... seems counter-productive to one's leisure activities.

So, either:

- You want housing so much that your FFXIV play sessions without a house are dissatisfying. Answer: Quit this game and pick a different one where you can easily get housing; or
- You don't want housing enough to stop you from enjoying other aspects of FFXIV. Answer: Keep playing FFXIV, enter housing lotteries (or don't) and stop worrying about housing.

When you keep playing a game that doesn't make you happy, or you can only hyper-focus on problems, then we're edging into addiction territory. You should be able to just stop or change activities that bring you frustration. When we humans cannot do that, it's an indicator we need help with our problems that we cannot provide ourselves.

I will agree that housing is the most poorly implemented marketed feature in the game. The good news is that the rest of the game is pretty great. However, if you want a fulfilling experience where you get the house size and location you desire, this game will not deliver.

At this point, I'm out of fucks to give in regards to housing. While I still want a better house in-game, the past half year has taught me that's not going to happen. Oh well, you move on.

Going to save you time and headache. Any solution you can think of has already been thought of and discussed..

Instanced houses should be an alternative to ward houses, not an upgrade for apartments. That way, players must weigh the pros and cons of each choice instead of just taking both.

But I wouldn't hold my breath for any change to the housing sytem. New servers have been added to Europe, and new datacenters are being planned for Europe and NA. The housing on those new servers will probably have to fill up before we can even hope for SE to implement instanced houses (if ever).

I think many other players have beat you to suggesting that same solution in these very same forums over the last several years. You're not really adding anything new to the ongoing discussion.

At least for the time being, SE seems to have no plans to change the housing system. Island Sanctuary has shown that SE is capable of doing some things that a few opponents have said aren't possible as their argument for why a better instanced housing can't happen. Perhaps it's a stepping stone to an improved instanced housing system, perhaps not

Personally, I can't believe that SE is not at least discussing the situation considering they're trying to take advantage of the recent momentum that's bringing new players to the game. Good housing can be a real draw, especially for those coming from MMOs that never added it. Right now, the limit on the number of plots per world is one of the major issues holding the system back from being truly good housing.

Until such time as SE chooses to implement changes that improve the system for all players, we'll need to look toward the ways SE is adding additional houses. Right now, it's via the addition of new worlds to the game. There are plenty of houses left on the new worlds added already this year to OCE and EU. Hopefully we're still getting the new NA data center and worlds in November. That will be an additional 28,800 plots for NA players who are willing to transfer to the new worlds, and some of those players will be leaving their current houses behind which will make a small number of houses available to those not interested in transferring. An additional 28,800 plots will be coming at such time as SE is able to add the final 4 worlds to the new data center (originally was going to be spring-summer 2023).

re: crossbreeding - honestly, find a friend with a house that will add you as tenant to use their garden. It's not the magic solution to onion prices that many like to believe.

Apartment is an option or FC room.
Or simply move to a less populated server.

What I can see, you're in EU. Sagittarius has more free houses than acquired ones.
