In the Balance is actually a hymn, possibly of lalafellan origin, commonly sung in Ul'dah by the worshippers of Nald'thal. Possibly sung mostly in the thaumaturge's guild which also acts as a place of worship.

Brushes this baby off
Ok so while I was going through the HW dungeon changes and to see what the duty support npcs said about the dungeons I went and said in my FC chat about how I swear every Ishgardian except Estinien must like moogles as after beating up the moogles in Sohr Khai Aymeric says something like I hope we didn't hurt them too badly. Which an FC mate replied with nah you see Estinien on the inside just wants to smush their cute fuzzy bodies against his face. It's just that back then it would have clashed with his macho masculinity.
Which prompted me to reply with "Oh so on the inside he was just super envious of Yasale being able to so openly show her love for their soft fluffyness?". I also added that they probably interfere with his jumping. But yeah now I can't get the picture of Estinien trying to jump around the Churning Mists and other places only having a slight panic attack cause a moogle got in the way of his landing or taking off trajectory and not wanting to hurt the poor thing at least on the inside. While growling on the outside.

Somewhere between a bizarre headcanon and just a long-shot theory: Sephirot's tribe was oppressed or marginalized by Sophia's society (which descriptions more paint as a Sharlayan-style society of intellectuals than a 'beast tribe' like the other two). During the Allagan invasion, they either put their differences aside or Sephirot's people had resigned themselves to their status.
This is historically a completely lost conflict, with the only lingering evidence being that Sephirot has a line about 'tipping the scales' and the part of Fiend referring to a feminine figure being a potential partner to Sophia's theme, Equilibrium, which shows that she is indeed a figure who couches leaving her followers to die in kind and high-minded words. Every single part of this conflict is long dead and irrelevant, but Sephirot's still mad about it.

I'd be mad too, if I had to war with Sophia instead of smooch her. /swoon. It still bugs me that all of Sephirot's powers in 6 are Ice related. Then we get this creatine roid rager tree people boy in XIV ( I mean, I appreciate all the green energy, because green is my favorite color, but maaaaaaaan talk about a reference blown!).
To contribute truly to the thread again, I've always had the idea in my head that if I cracked open Zurvan's tail, it'd be delicious like lobster tail.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
Being the ceremonial leader of the Order of Nald'thal, Nanamo actually has some basic training in thaumaturgy.
Enough to surprise any assailants attacking the apparently unarmed sultana.

That actually does make a lot of sense and probably has very good odds of being true.
A little headcanon I've been tossing around in my head lately to explain something that has been mentioned from time to time since EW opened up Garlemald and Ilsabard, exactly why the Three Great Continents map still has most of Ilsabard obscured by cloud?
Officially of course it was because Ilsabard was isolated from Aldenard/Eorzea for so long by Baelsar's Wall, Nedrick Ironheart and his grandpa before him simply couldn't get there to chart the place accurately and just obscured the entire continent with clouds as paying lip service to the area - effectively their version of "here be dragons" in real life historical cartography.
Really though, the Ironhearts were just too damn lazy to update their maps now that the Ilsabard continent is open to the West other than replacing the Imperial Palace spires artwork on the map with the Tower of Babil.
No doubt this led to some problems with the Ilsabardian Contingent not having accurate maps during the mission to Garlemald thanks to Nedrick's laziness and thus forcing them to having to source Garlean ones (of dubious cartographical accuracy) instead...

Due to recently learning that Commet aka everyone's favorite meteor casting red chocobo was made via experiments done by Hannish alchemists I feel that probably slipped out at some point where the WoL had an awkward conversation with Nidhana about it. It ending with the WoL having Bozja and Lighthouse unlock ptsd and a confused Nidhana asking Estinien was it something they said and Estinien shrugging while eating some dried squid.
I like to imagine that somewhere out there is a roegadyn named Independent Merchant, founder of the Independent Trading Company, and he makes all members adopt the name when they join.
