Per the supplementary short stories and word of god, Estinien is/has always been lazy when it comes to taking care of his hair. Its 1000% in character that his solution to being hot but not wanting to take off his armor was to simply pull it up off his neck lol

Then the least they could've done is at least make his ponytail look more masculine and did something about his bangs. Bangs are already troublesome enough to deal with in real life so if we want to go that angle then he should've gotten rid of them too. Also there isn't an excuse for him to be walking around in an armorset that was added in 2017, whatever lore is underlying it. He needs something new.

I think that Zero is a decent enough substitute for Fordola. They're similar enough, just with different color palettes.

Fordola has way more personality then Zero.
She also has a way better and interesting introduction then Zero as well. She looks cool sure, but in terms of a character, she is lacking compared to Fordola

I think it would be a good look for him. Especially if he got some new facial hair too. It's hard to believe someone in his situation stays so clean shaven. It's not as if Elezen don't grow beards.

It's almost like some people don't like having beards. Beards are annoying, they itch, require constant maintenance.

Bangs are definitely more annoying than beards, this is coming from someone whose had both. You don't stand to lose anything from a more masculine guy being added to the cast.

I'm confused as to how this is an argument against having someone in the main party with a beard.

But it is argued that it wouldnt look good on Estinian, but rather a different character

After Estinien's lackluster performance in Endwalker I'm ok with him being benched in favor of someone who looks more tough than him. Again anyone from this thread could serve as inspiration.

Men do not necessarily need facial hair to be considered masculine but I think it is definitely a masculine trait by virtue of the vast majority of women not walking around with beards or stubble.

I prefer clean shaven men or men with stubble to full on beards as a personal preference though I agree with Aveyond that more visible testosterone amongst the major cast would be pleasantly refreshing.

I do think that Estinien cutting his hair short for efficiency's sake and having stubble due to rarely shaving would make sense for his character and personality.

I'm sorry, but it seems I'm having difficulties taking such a statement seriously coming from a FemRa.

One of the things I like about the Scions is that they often do not subscribe to traditional tropes that can sometimes appear in JRPGS. Like with the twins, having the boy be more a healer who stays back and uses their intelligence, and the girl who is more hot-headed and edger to get into the frontlines of battle. The hard hitting monk who can break Zeno’s mask in half also being a slight ditsy airhead, at least at the start. Its one of the reasons why in ARR+ I was not keen on Thancred and his ‘Oh look he is a womanizer’ motif, but he became one of my favourites Scions after Shadowbringer and what they did with him and Ryne.

You say that like hot-headed, hard-hitting women who lead from the front aren't much more common these days and increasingly resembling a store-bought commodity. Not to say they're everywhere, but people can't keep bringing up this point like they're a rare Tasmanian Devil anymore. Fierce women, woman protagonists are getting more and more common and this is good! but the counterpoint is losing it's edge as a debate-worthy weapon and starting to take on rust.

That, or ignore it entirely. Starting to think none of y'all really KNOW Aveyond and as such are unqualified to speak of them, but hey. 'Tis only mine opinion~
