There is a difference between best way, and only way. Most of the content in XI could be done with different jobs than people used, but no one wanted to risk beastseals, or pop items on less tried and true strategies. Sort of like how you could beat airship with any solid party setup and a lot of luck or be guaranteed to destroy it with 5 black mages and a tank.

I know, but so many people aren't willing to try anything different. Here's hoping there are some brave souls coming to my new server on Monday.

Which is why I proposed a multi floor, multi boss dungeon, all floors and bosses needing a different strat, for example, the first boss could be aoe heavy, stack BRD/BLM, but the next one could oneshot anyone standing back (little extreme cos of whm, but lets go for it for now) you need WAR, DRG, MNK dds, 3rd boss might gain rotate resistance to damage types, so you need all jobs, DRG for piercing, BRD for projectile, WAR for slashing, MNK for blunt and BLM for magic, it would make us change on demand, and add a use for damage types.
