This doesn't fix anything about the number of dungeons in the roulette, which is the issue.Ah Expert roulette, the worst roulette in the game. Personally I don't care too much about this, it's always been the same, they've no intention of fixing the system that people have complained about for years even though there has always been a simple fix.
All they have to do is make it drop gear tokens that you can spend at a vendor to buy whatever piece you need. This gets around the ilvl problem of gear drops as you can always get something useful no matter what dungeon you get.
Thats why we must get back to 2 dungeons per patch... having the same ones for months is just too much..

Or if they can't do that, just adjust their pattern of how things expire out of Expert. If they set a hard number of the dungeons always included, then it will help maintain that variety. So for this they could retire Dead Ends and leave the rest which gives a nice 50/50 balance of slightly older and much newer.

That would put only Dead Ends in the level 90 capstone roulette, however. And while it's sad when a roulette has only two options, a roulette with only one option fails to be a roulette at all. And Dead Ends does need to be in a roulette, or else people just now catching up to story will hit a wall at the end of Endwalker.Or if they can't do that, just adjust their pattern of how things expire out of Expert. The issue, honestly, is that since you need to retire more than one thing into the capstone roulette for capstone roulette to be, y'know, a roulette... we have three dungeons that were around since the expansion launched, which means it makes sense for three to be retired. But that leaves only two in Expert.
What I might do if I were the designer -- and keeping in mind my previous point about why they probably split things up that way -- would be that if there's no viable way to have more than one dungeon per story patch, wait one patch longer. Yeah, it means you end up with five in expert for one patch (and presumably a much less efficient queue for folks doing the level 90 dungeons for the first time, as previously mentioned), but then with 6.3 you can retire the first three and have three in each, and then keep three in expert through the rest of the patch.
I suspect there's elements I'm not seeing which would make this less ideal, though. (Probably in terms of what the pattern of players running dungeons -- and what dungeons need specific people being matched in -- that SQEX has actual concrete data on and we don't.)
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

I think you missed the point. If you add a token drop instead of set gear people can still run the dungeons in the roulette without the current ilvl issue that causes them to split the roulette. If you had a token drop then you would be able to keep all the lvl90 dungeons in the expert roulette. If people win a token in a chest then they can exchange it for any gear piece they want from any of the dungeons via a vendor. Also useful for people collecting glamour so they don't need to run dungeons a billion times to get the 1 piece for the role they want.
Here's the thing: everything is a complaint on the forum/reddit/discord/etc. There isn't a single aspect of the game about which people don't complain. Listening to the vast majority of these complaints would make the game a lot worse, and listening to all of them would be impossible as they are often contradictory.
Then don't do it. This is a videogame—don't play it if it isn't fun for you.
Meh. It's expected at this point! The duties listed within Duty Roulette: Expert have been changed as follows:
The Dead Ends
Smileton
The Stigma Dreamscape
Alzadaal's Legacy
Alzadaal's Legacy
The Fell Court of Troia
Very disappointing. We're back to 2 dungeon Expert roulettes.
They listen to some things but are deaf on many others. This was a complaint all throughout Shadowbringers.
I would like to see all current expansion Level cap normal dungeons be included in the Expert Roulette. I do not want to see them cycled out.
2 options just makes this roulette a miserable grind to do. There's no variety. We saw this at its worst in Shadowbringers.
That doesnt really matter as theres always trust now. As we have to accept the even easier dungeons now thanks to trust , thats the least trade off we deserve...
At this time ive run those dungeons so many times, i cant see em anymore and i wont do the lv 90 roulet at all anyways. It was already hard in 4.x but by now... just no.
Heavensward was so nice, a sweet change of the full ex set every patch, more dungeons in the lv 60 roulett, i enjoyed it so much.
I used to love Amaurot, but the roulett and the sync made me hate it so much...
just give us back the 2nd dungeon, it doesnt have to be for trusts...

Waiting one more patch could work. They also redo the roulettes and make it 50/60/70 and then 80/90. Then add 100 to that second one when we get there. That might help a bit more for people coming up in story because that will cover both players in Shadowbringers and Endwalker. It will have to give the latest tome, though. I've never understood why 50+ leaves that one off. Just 10 or 15 like some others of the current tomestone and it won't be hard to keep people running it. Though IIRC 90 Roulette will have that addition. That would put only Dead Ends in the level 90 capstone roulette, however. And while it's sad when a roulette has only two options, a roulette with only one option fails to be a roulette at all.
