I have an alt ama
So far the only people I've seen defend the SAM changes are people who A) openly admit to taking the pleasure from other players' fun being ruined because they are edgy teenagers, disgruntled healers or something B) just have a general stoner's "it's all good, man" mentality with no elaboration or possibly even experience with the job.
I mean there are probably just diehard SE white knights on reddit or wherever too, but still.

So, not to be rude or anything, but what is fun now? What is *better?* I guess it's easier - though I didn't think it was hard in the first place, so I don't see much change there. It's flatter, certainly, nothing big to aim for, no highs and lows - like it's been put on a too high dosage of anti-depressants maybe.
It isn't even exactly different - it's just somehow less than it was. The flow is gone, the sense you're building to something, the elegance - gone. So I cannot stretch my mind to see what's more fun now. Just - flat.
Whoever said it was a job without its soulstone seems too heartbreakingly accurate.
It wasn't my main job. I DO have an alt, who leveled it 2nd (after his Bard) - the change came mercifully after I got him to 90. It wasn't his main, either. But it still matters. This game has one character/all classes for a reason, after all. But she - Lala-me here - has one that I've played longer. I liked it better on the bunny - I could see his actions better. On her, I didn't notice much, which made the Sam one of her least favorite classes. On him, it was beautiful & I loved it. I spent god knows how long farming proper glamours for him.
And now it's nothing. It's not beautiful. It's not methodical or elegant. It's just 'meh, whatever.' I don't even have to pay attention when playing it. And I'm no hardcore player - but SOME involvement is necessary to Spark Joy. This has none. So I don't see - I just can't - how Kaiten's removal helps anything from a player perspective. For the developers - ok, maybe it was somehow hard to build around, as they said. Why that was hard, & other things weren't, I have no idea, but I'm not a developer. But for a player? I can't begin to understand how this could be considered an improvement of any kind.

Simple,
The job still exists, katana cool skills, simplicity & authentic.

I had a preference for old sam because of how you focus on building up to attack, now the pressure is always on but without positionals it lets you move freely around it feels without worrying about messing up your rotation, and I suspect you mean this makes it easier and it does but you have to keep up shinten spam without reopening incorrectly every time now, which isn't really different so much so in itself than it is now for sam when you were worried more about lining everything up in the correct order rather than even slowly where as now it's spammy more so than ever but you cant fall behind on it since it's that easy. to me old sam was much more of a methodical approach in ideal while nu sam feels like charging in and being quick even though slightly weaker practically speaking, or atleast that is how it feels. wether it's better or not idk numbers wise. that's why it's still fun even though I prefer the old approach, it still feels very samurai oriented except for the tenka change instead of being a copycat of another jobs gauge mechanics. So, not to be rude or anything, but what is fun now? I would say these statements are in direct opposition.
Inevitably some people will find the new SAM tolerable or even enjoyable, but this isn't good for the overall health of the game, especially where playstyle diversity is concerned. 6.1 SAM has the least amount of Samurai flavor than at any other point in time.
If people want to play the quick unrelenting striker with moderate potency per hit, MNK has been available since 1.0, which is precisely why SAM does in fact need a revert before any more changes that trend towards homogeneity are made.
