"if you aren’t too concerned with the quickest spell casting," that is the rest of your sentence you quoted.
in other words if you aren't worried about being efficient.

I normally agree with the things you say but come on... the last thing a gamepad user wants to do is press a key on the keyboard before every spell
Using a macro before every spell is better but still pretty unintuitive
Gamepad user and Keyboard user are having the same incovinience, we have to press button to stop completely if you aren't using macro.
I dont use macro before every spell either, i use it for important spells like cures... like only cures most of the time. For THM u only need to use macro on your first combo spell. All in all, it takes only 4 slots of your macro.
I am not saying its not unintuitive, it annoys me sometimes, especially due to this changes, i have to press multiple sometimes, and because i was spamming it, sometimes it would already starting to cast and cancels it instead.
I guess what i am saying is, this changes are final? he clearly wants this casting spec for v2.0 that is apparently already playable. Is there a use to starts a petition/whining over this asking for its removal? the last thing we need is devs that keeps changing every spec and gives us image that they do not know about their directions at all.
but that's the thing. you quoted me earlier, but i am not asking for its removal and for them to never return it. what i am asking for is either fix them or remove them until the new engine is put in place and it can be done correctly.I guess what i am saying is, this changes are final? he clearly wants this casting spec for v2.0 that is apparently already playable. i'm fine with the idea behind the new system. i just don't think the execution of the idea was completed, yet.
edit: i just don't think that a band aid cover as a half fix for a bad design makes the original design any better.

the end result of all of this actually sounds AWESOME
1. noticeably less lag/latency at 2.0
2. Moving interrupts some spells
3. Some spells are instant cast
4. Yoshi says at 2.0 there will be spells added that you can cast while running
all of that added together makes for a great compromise between traditional stand and fight Final fantasy battles and more action based moving combat
Its really the best of both worlds
It just kind of sucks at times because all of the lag free beauty that is the 2.0 server structure isn't here yet
but I'm looking forward to the direction that the battle is going
I guess we're on the same page now hah.
Hello,
As a Mage (and someone who will ignore a lot of the 'ranting' so far), I'm glad you got to experience the other side of the curing world ^^; Normally it's nto a big issue, but it is when the tank (or targets) are insistent on running as much as possible without even thinking of stopping.
Such as in DH, or even XP parties, when the tank gets cured, then runs off (still at 50%) out of range and gets beaten up.
It's a pretty simple mechanic: You are hurt? You want to be cured? Let the mage cure you.
The system works fine if those involves are mindful of this limitation and act accordingly.
There is perhaps a legitimate concern for controller users (sorry, I am only on a keyboard and would never ever use a controller) with regard to being able to stop moving and cancelling spells. Am curious if it is at all possible for Controller Users to switch to Keyboard until at least PS3 support is completed?
When PvP gets put in the game how easy would it be to hit your Ice spell and kite every melee class/job in the entire game running in a circle against a snared player and casting spells over and over. They would never catch you and you could just spam spells...how is that fair? It would be the "I WIN" button in PvP and a lot of PvE. Mages wreck right now as it stands.

As a warmage kitty, it's not been difficult at all to adjust to not curing/casting while moving on my WHM, and I'm not always easily adjustable either.
i do get your question. let me say i originally played this game on keyboard and mouse. my keyboard went out and i ordered a new one and moved to my controller until the new one arrived. the controller played so much better that there is no way i could go back to the keyboard once the new one arrived. i know i am not speaking for every controller user though, but i'd rather just put the game away and not touch it again as i would play it without my controller.
but this is where you are incorrectly assuming i am asking for it to be removed to go back to the old way permanently. that is not what i am asking for at all. i understand the move is being made for pvp, but pvp is not in game now nor do i see it being in the game before 2.0 due to server limitations and lag issues. what i have asked for multiple times in this thread is fix the issues that we have now if it's possible with the engine we have in place or remove it until the new engine goes in so it can be correctly implemented. When PvP gets put in the game how easy would it be to hit your Ice spell and kite every melee class/job in the entire game running in a circle against a snared player and casting spells over and over. it doesn't have to be all or nothing. it can be fixed(if possible) or removed until the fix is possible. once again, i am not asking for it to go back to the original way for the long term.
