I haven't had much of an issue with it. Just make sure you're in the right spot when you start casting and you'll be fine.
However, the skill timer reset issue NEEDS to be fixed sooner rather than later.

My favorite is when i use facetarget to stop and try to start casting and the game still tells me I can't cast wile moving.. lol
It's not as annoying when you have dealt with the multitude of mobs in XI that knock back. Also, at least you can still cast after being hit by something 3+ levels higher than you. Sometimes you wouldn't be able to cast in XI if a mob hit you for 2 damage. Good times. Good times. Sup puks, dolls, beetles, behemoth, birds, buffalo, goblins, goobbue, sheep, worm, pixie, lizard, hippogryph, ram, raptor and tons of other NMs.
Although it's quite annoying that moving to cancel a cast has a 50/50 chance in working.
I think they kept the same server structure from XI, as I can see many similarities. You had to wait about a second when you stopped moving in XI to start casting, too. If you started casting immediately, it would interrupt as the server hasn't registered your new location yet. If you got knocked back in XI, and you were quick enough you could run back to the location where you started casting before you were knocked back, and the spell would go off.
Just thinking of PvP in this game with the current systems makes me cringe. The combat is too slow and clunky to react to something on the fly. The targeting is bad for swift reaction. I can see a sort of "capture the node" objective working. Sorta.
Makes me think of ballista. Something you did when you wanted to mess around.
PvP causes "class balance issues" to come up relatively quickly, and then the forums will be full of nerf this, nerf that, that is op, etc.

Welcome to the Mages Union, local 605.Until the last couple days I've mainly leveled DoH/L and some DD classes. Getting archer done meant I needed to get CNJ to at least 15 so that's been my goal tonight.
WOW, does interrupt while moving suck completely hard.
I had Cure/Protect I use while leveling other classes and I never really noticed - and I didn't think it was such a big deal when they made the change, but now that I'm doing it full time... I'm practically interrupted at every turn. I can't fight and cast, I can't move, I get interrupted by any knockback - I get interrupted, I swear, doing nothing!
It may have seemed natural in XI but it seems completely counter-intuitive to how this game is built and operates. This game is designed around the concept of moving while fighting. I don't think I could ever full-time a mage class, I would throw my controller against the wall!! I don't know how you mages stand it. Respect for you guys putting up with this. I had no idea.

So many personal attacks and such in this thread. >.>
I play with a gamepad and I am(was) a career WHM until I gave up trying to play with the server lag screwing with my casts and controller commadns. I can cast just fine and moving and stopping to cast has yet to cause me issues. I agree something like this should have been saved for later when server stability is improved.

I like it how it is now, just the lag sometimes screws you over, more so my hubby running away from my heals... D:
I see how this could be a problem in fights which require alot of moovement.
Yes maybe it was added a bit early, but reversing it would all like "yes!...NO!...uuh.. MAYBE!" so well lets get used to it. :3

How is this hard. All you have to do is stand their and nuke.
Literally its so simple a caveman could do it.
I have like a new found obsession with CNJ in addition for my eternal love for BRD
To stop and cast is very simple
Simply take your finger off the movement button.
When your character stops moving, cast.
Soloing is retarded simple. Use exploitative elemental magics for the most damage your not trying to combo as much here or you will burn your MP fast. If you have to borrow an elemental spell from another DoM, you most likely will only need one, as your primary targets are probably of all the same elements.
All you have to do is stand there, stoneskin, protect, second wind, nuke, nuke. You proabably wont even have to cast a cure! (Solo of course)
No running anywhere is involved. An archer may back up from his foes though because his combos require distance.
