i doubt it would work but but add and item you can get and you need say 15-20 adn you by any EX mount. other that hat i do see any rewards being worth itAhahaha
... you actually think that will motivate anyone? Materia are given out like candy nowadays. I could get more in twenty minutes from a hunt train alongside more than double the latest tomes (120 to be specific). All without putting in the slightest bit of effort since hunt trains are mindless.
50 tomes and 1/2 grade X materia is nothing. Hell, grade IXs aren't even 4k on the market board. For reference sake on just how easy they are to obtain. I have stacks of 200+ on every single IX and 100+ on the Xs without grinding a single second. That's all from simply doing the occasional around of roulettes. I haven't even done a hunt train since 6.1 dropped. To get people into an EX Trial roulette, you'd need like 300 tomes and 10+ materia. Even that I doubt would motivate many. And like I said, would prompt some to simply queue in as a full pre-made. Nobody will ever queue with DF randoms at the EX level.

One important aspect on this is that it should not involve the exploit the alliance raids have in which downgearing prevents difficult content. Otherwise it would just break the point of existing as you will just end with the lvl 50 trials most of the time which then are trivial to beat due to players doing these lots of times.
3 methods to achieve this:
- The roulette looks at the MSQ and character level to decide a fair treshold, and it uses each questline (ARR,ARA,HW,DS,SB,etc) as treshold to decide which content they are matched to. And this is simply enforced by ilvl. Having higher gear on that will enable a few more trials to show up. But it will avoid massive undergearing (someone in post EW will still get all ShB content). Taking a weaker char can still get people to enforce them to enter lower level content, but this generaly just means more suffering for them with it.
- The rewards for completion scale based on the ilvl you entered with. joining in ilvl130 will only give about 25% of the rewards vs ilvl500 gear then. Making gearing up a generaly more beneficial action. Alternatively, the scaling can even be made non linear and/or scale with MSQ.
- The roulette is only available at max lvl with an enforced min ilvl. No scaling, and only available in post EW.

Even then, they would have to force solo queuing otherwise people would simply make a pre-made to farm whatever goodies they added without actually doing what was intended by the roulette: help newer players clear EXs. Of course, making it a solo queue only option is precisely what will keep those same people out.
