We keep playing the lottery because we dont have a choice currently. I have no doubt somewhere in the future things will change again, but we are stuck with this for now. This system cant possibly last. The same players that made bots to click placards are the same players that will make LOTS of alts and extra accounts JUST to have extra bids. They didnt solve anything. They just traded in one flawed system for another tbh.

Neither system is the real flaw. They both work in their own ways.

The real flaw is in the limited supply that forces SE to resort to such systems in the first place.

The moment everyone has a house, the feeling of having a house dies off.
I like it the way it is, they just need to re-enable the timer and drop it to 30 days.

Basically this, housing is unique because the supply is limited and you feel happy when you actually do end up getting one, if every single person had one, it would lose its "flavor"

Perhaps that's how the two of you feel because you both value prestige and exclusivity over being with people having fun.

Some of us value people having fun. I don't care if someone else has what I have. It would not matter to me if everyone else has a house. the flavor doesn't come from having something others can't get. The flavor comes from the content itself.

I want everyone else to be sharing in that enjoyment if it's content that interests them.

Because there is still a chance, that is why there are so many bids. People believe they might win, regardless of the odds.
