what I suspected at the start may be the case... I mean.. its been shown that the community you exist in is the one you bring to the community. a majority of posters seemed to say that bad behaviour and rude people they had run into, but no where at the level of the OP. which is the same in ANY community. if you see this happen on a daily basis, I suspect the problem is not the community, but somewhere closer to home.

and OP, your words may have more weight if you were not posting on a single job level 7 character. which was a very big thing to do on the WoW forums for trolls, since they then could not be questioned on their actual intent. I am sure if I could remember my log in back then I could refute your assertations with a character just as low with that age...
The community is better in general than what you'll see in many other online games if you play them long enough. It's not a confirmation bias. There's a remarkable difference when you first come here after playing a decade in a game like WoW.

But that doesn't mean the community is without flaws or toxic elements. Those still exist but the degree is less. Part of that is due to the game design, which encourages friendliness and cooperation versus a WoW that never truly left its PvP roots and had a "there's no rule against being a jerk" policy when it came to GM assistance.
