I don't like FFXIV's community

I'm not sure if the quotations are sarcasm. But the fact is the xiv reddit is indeed a much more positive place than the OF. I don't even care for all the memes n such but those folks seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves

A big part of that is that they typically don't let trolls destroy the community, or at the very least Reddit's overall design makes it easy to bury troll threads. In here, I post something replying to a troll thread and it pops up to the front page (case in point) and there is really no moderation, I've only seen 1 troll thread out of at least 2-3 per week actually deleted.

That being said, Reddit has its own problems. Namely reasonable criticism of the game will occasionally get buried as well.

I've found that r/ffxivdiscussion is where you want to be if you want in-depth critique topics.

Been playing this game for quite a while.
In Dungeons I've seen bad behaviour only 3 or 4 times.
There was more Drama and sick behaviour outside of Dungeons and Raids.
In FC's for example, or being stalked by strange Persons because of Glamour (Augmented Healer's Culottes).
I think, overall, the community isn't that bad.
One more thing.
I've played WoW for 5 or 6 years. Stopped playing after Mists of Pandaria.
And the community wasn't that bad either.
I think, you experienced a minor incident and now you're upset because of lack of respect after all those years playing this game.
I don't want to sound mean, just guessing.

Only if it's what that sub cares about. Mostly meta meta meta raid raid raid prog raid meta and they still resort to downvote abuse if you criticise aspects of the game they like.

They're just like any sub reddit with more than 1000 members really. Reddit is only good for "discussing" if you want an echo chamber to validate your own opinions. The downvote was designed to be used at comments that don't contribute with the discussion and that has not been it's practical use in many many years.

The reason a few posters here get all bothered by "muh toxic negativity" is because they have zero tolerance for people who don't see eye to eye with them in a subject they care about.

Yeah, I've looked at it a bit and it seems like they prefer certain discussions like the game being too casual friendly, the game is too easy, and every job is braindead easy now. Any deviation from those opinions is treated pretty harshly just like you'd get on any other subreddit going against the common narrative.

I've been playing since September 2013 and I can count with one hand the bad experiences I've had with other players.

Any time I see one of these threads I have no idea what to say because It has nothing to do with my own experience... I've not had anyone told me to kill myself once in almost 9 years, I've never had an issue with a GM, I honestly don't see that many Discords advertised in PF (we do have IRL feet lady in Primal), hunts have never been that bad even during trains, worst I've had was some guy saying I wasn't doing enough damage on Susano EX years ago and that was the one time, and any time there's a novice in my party people are super patient.

So... sorry you've had a bad experience but I can't relate whatsoever really.
