I don't like FFXIV's community

An example of the community being terrific in this game.

The other night I was on my main (V'aren Rhiki) trying to do the Kugane jumping tower for the first time. I was to put it mildly struggeling as I really suck at jumping puzzles. The first 2 hour session I had about 3 different people see me trying and come up to show me what way to go. At the end of 2 hours I was frustrated and embarrassed that I couldn't do it so I thanked them and logged off for awhile.

About midnight I went back determined to get it. after about 10 minutes another person came up trying to show me which way to go. Cheering me on. Patiently waiting when I failed and had to start back at a lower point. I hit my frustration + exhaustion limit about 2 hours later. I thanked him for trying to help and his kindness. He told me the first time it took him like a month of several hour sessions to do it and he finally found a particular video that showed him how.

In the morning I looked up the video. Watched it several times. Went and tried to do it again and got it in 3 tries.

The kind of patience and kindness I experienced is far above and beyond anything I have ever seen in any other game.

Avoid the unofficial Discord for sure.

It's run by horrible, hypocritical power abusers and those that frequent it are like a hive mind that scream and shout then throw tantrums to get outsiders, or new users, banned from it for not conforming to their bias views or their toxicity. It's a travesty that they pretend that they're the official FF14 Discord when none exists. They prey on the unsuspecting player that thinks they're a good place to meet other FF14 players.

I'm not sure if the quotations are sarcasm. But the fact is the xiv reddit is indeed a much more positive place than the OF. I don't even care for all the memes n such but those folks seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves
