I don't like FFXIV's community

Trying to generalize any one person's anecdotal experience to an entire community is unlikely to end well. If I were to try doing the same with mine, it would be the polar opposite. My group experience is mainly with random people in DF, and in ~7 years of playing I can still probably count on one hand the number of toxic people I've encountered. I'm also on Gilgamesh, which is a larger server, and I never see the chat stuff mentioned by the OP (maybe that's a Balmung-specific thing?).

What I do encounter are a lot of people relaxing, chatting, and having fun. Maybe it's because I don't care for extremes and savages, which by their nature tend to funnel the cesspools of any community. But the community I've come across throughout these years has been very positive.

5. From Coils, to Alexander, to Omega, there and so on. Extremes as well and Savages. You'll find more and more unsavory people cursing at each other and they don't get banned. Telling people to quit the game.

6. You got people screaming at novices cause they don't know every mechanic before a fight in a basic 4 man leveling dungeon cause they are so tired of farming tomes they take it out on others.

I have straight up never seen either of these happen. Am I just lucky, or...?

Forum join date is 2011, which means playing back in 1.0 (I imagine posts from the pre-ARR era were deleted at some point). Someone deciding to make a new account just to troll would have a recent date.

He could be exactly what he said he is, with one massively bad experience of late that set him off. People can be jerks, and someone having a bad day for whatever reason might have a hard time coping.

He's clearly a time traveler, he time traveled back to 2011 to make his account and then came back to the present to totally start a troll thread!

Being fair, the experience is ofc gonna vary depending on many factors. I've seen a few of these happen over the years buy I'd never say it's constant. I just wonder about things like your choice or circle, how things are conducted with others n so one n so forth.
May try new servers? Or some DC travel to meet new folks

Really sorry you've had such a bad experience, OP. I've been playing since 1.0 and I've had a handful of these encounters. On the bright side, I've had many more neutral/good encounters than terrible ones, but I can understand how crappy it feels. It's important to acknowledge that these types of people exist and that we all have different experiences running content. I think it's biased to say whether the community is purely good or terrible since we can only speak from personal experience, though. I'm just sorry that you have had more negative than positive encounters. I can understand how that would push you to stop playing the game.

Whether you come back later or not, I hope you end up finding a community where overall you get treated neutrally / better.

1. From the very start of 2.0 I've had people tell me to kill myself or that I should quit. One instance i remember is doing Amdapor Keep for the first time and we all wiped on the last boss cause the Tank rushed in and no one knew the mechanics. Told me directly I should quit and how horrible I was when I asked if we could try again. This was very common behavior in this time period.

2. Poor GMing. You'll have some people catching bans but them you take a look at Balmung shout chat and see people talking about animal genitalia, their mods that give their characters animal genetalia, you can see people in the shout chat talking about other fetishes nonstop all day and people who have done it for years which I won't name but just spend a few seconds there and you'll see some disgusting dialogue being spammed. Even in say chat.

3. People promoting their Discords 24/7 in party finders, shout chats. These same discords dictating content like Eureka nonstop. Making it hard to even get anything done since a Discord decides it wants to control BA and you're not allowed. You have people insta pulling everything so people miss out cause no one cares.

4. Hunts all the years of them getting instapulled and people missing out.

I'm sorry but this community is not good in any sense of the word nor has it ever been no matter what anyone says.

And with that, I am done with this game. Been here since 1.0 but I'm ready to move on to something else like offline games.

I have only come across two slightly toxic tanks but that is about it. Sure every game has toxicity but in general FF is pretty chill and the GM will come down hard on harassment. Heck I came from one of the most toxic games back in its prime and that is COD and the lvl of toxicity I experienced there is something else lol. FF toxicity is childs play imo two totally different leagues, players tend to be passive aggressive at times but that is about it because if any toxicity goes on in the game and the GM can easily investigate it and guess what they hit those offenders with a ban hammer so fast it would make there head spin.
