I don't think the real concern is about minors when it comes to xiv. I think this has to do with folks seeing erpers as incels, degenerates n low life's and they don't want those folks associated with their game.
You dont have make excuses for sexual interaction in a mature game though cause its...MATURE!!! No minors wont stay away from it but at least you dont have to make excuses and hide your activity

First off calm tf down. If you're so passionate about this log in and start reporting every erp venue and public experience you see. Keep your anger away from this here.

Secondly does the game being 18+ protect you legally? To be more specific, if someone were to erp with a minor in an 18+ game would they be legally protected and face 0 consequences? Because if not then my point 100% stands

Also as an aside, there was a GM a few months back on Primal iirc who was banning erp venues advertised as 18+ and they got reprimanded for doing so. There was a protest in Limsa and everything. So if it REALLY wasn't suppose to be in the game that wouldn't have happened.

I am calm people need to hammer into their skulls ERP is not allowed cause the games rating would have to change. Upholding the Teen rating is eaiser to do for SE then changing the games rating. If was suppose to be in game you wouldnt get banned for doing when caught.

Incorrect. The ESRB and PEGI rating systems only take game content into consideration when deciding the rating, they explicitly do not consider potential online interaction for rating purposes. This is exactly why there is always a disclaimer for any game with an ESRB or PEGI rating with any online component, where they state that online interaction may vary from the given rating.

Ya and there are countries who dont give damn about that disclaimer they find Mature content in a teen rated game heads roll. The disclaimer is just the ESRB and pegi freeing themselves of something they have no control over, it does not free SE of the matter.

Such as? Do you have actual examples of this, or just your righteous indignation backing up your claim?

You don't seem to understand that in most cases the rating systems are in no way legally binding. The ESRB and PEGI are non-government, industry run, organizations. The only rating system with some teeth is Austrailia's, which is actually government run, however they also do not consider online interactivity as part of their domain. I suppose China's is pretty strict, but that's a whole different animal as FF in China is run by an entirely different publisher and not relevant to the current conversation of SE run FFXIV.

I'm neither defending nor admonishing ERP, simply giving you facts that the claims you're making have no foundation. Every single prominent rating system does not consider online interaction when handing out ratings.

The following ARC Principles and Guidelines for Responsible Advertising Practices apply to all “qualifying advertising” for physical games rated by the ESRB. Furthermore, all publishers, co-publishers, licensees, and/or other third parties utilizing ESRB ratings for physical games are legally bound to comply with the guidelines. Failure to do so can result in points, corrective actions, and monetary fines.

From the ESRB themselves in short the DEVELOPER not the ESRB can catch Hell for not making sure the games content meet the rating. I never said the ESRB is responible for mainting a rating the developer is..
