This is the best case. Godbert shows up in the Hildi questline for a patch then leaves to hang out with Gerolt for the expansion while Hildi does his thing.
Kind of like the relationship between the MSQ and the four lords questline.
Relic weapon? Is it just a cosmetic thing, or is it better than 600 ilevel?
Also, I did some of the Hildibrand questline, but got bored with it and stopped. I have no idea where to pick it up again.

Usually the relic weapons are behind in power to the Savage weapons, and sometimes behind in power to the tomestone weapons. But by the end of the expansion, namely the very final patches (x.55), they are the most powerful weapons with your own personally customized stats.

Check your journal to see what quest you did last full quest line is here.

I have to do it still on my Japan alt but not sure I want to do relic there but the quest line and rewards aren't that hard to do they don't need to be finished in a day.

The cosmetics for these weapons are generally a big draw. The relic is best in its final stage, closer the end of the expansion. Customized stats make it great for synced content and the item level makes it a great bridge into the next cap raise. All that being said, it's still completely optional.
Hildi is not meant to be binged. Do a little bit here and there. You have about 2 months to play around. If you've lost your place, go to the inn > Unending Story. Side Story quests (4th from the left) has Hildibrand right there.

When 6.25 drops the relics will likely be ilv615 to start, so, better than crafted weapons, and the first augmentation step will bump it to ilv630.
I think.
I believe Bozjan weapons were ilv485 at the start then ilv500 at the end of the first step.
They wont be better than Savage weapons til 6.55 unless the substats are better. The first set will probably have materia slots so they'll be better than most things til 6.35 anyway as you can tack a 3rd substat on unlike savage or tome weapons.
If you dunno where you left Hildy you can always check your recommended tab or journal to see what hildy quests youve completed.

Relic weapons at the end of a released section were generally the same item level as Extreme Trial drops.
You could chase a mount for a bit and get all geared up or you could do whatever slower path exists.
After the last trial in an expansion is over and done with, there's one more section of relic upgrades and that's when it becomes the best out there.

I say this as a 90 DoL everything. I hope that if they do include DoL and DoH, it's an option on a step where there is also a DoW or DoM route. I remember the difficulty many had with ARR where some things were only crafted. But I loved the Crystal Sand step in HW since there were many options. They were a *little* more limited on the adventuring side, so that would need to be adjusted a little. It was far easier to just use blue scrips than any of the adventuring options. But so long as they can make all routes viable, I'm all for including different options.
Well, I just completed the series up to "A Soulful Reunion" No weapon, and no follow-up quests listed at https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...t/76f45a57f34/
I assume there's more to come before Endwalker ends?
