Most points in support of 6.1 changes and Kaiten removal, are just all outright abysmal. Excl. Enpi QoL change. From the players PoV...
- Did it Fix Button Bloat / Action bloat? " No "
In-fact we litter our opener with Gyoten and there are plenty of other buttons to remove before Kaiten.
- Did Kaiten removal Fix DPS variance? " No "
In-fact we still have it it's just less, and this could have been separately addressed without removing Kaiten. In-fact DPS variance never stood in the way of clearing any content " ever ". This sounds more like a parsing/FFLogs issue vs an actual FFXIV in-game issue.
- Did it improve Samurai Gameplay? " No "
Samurai is a Melee-caster. Building up towards casting big-hits that now not only feel dumbed down in execution? but also lowered in DPS-output in the moment. A big part why Samurai felt so satisfying. Kaiten was the only thing that stopped the Kenki gauge from being a mindless spammable Shinten/Kyuten gauge.
- To whom were these changes meant for? " No Idea "
Most Samurai's were, in-fact a survey out of 3000 players done where Samurai mains were the most satisfied with their job's playstyle before 6.1. No clue who asked for these changes, nor what it was supposed to address. Samurai's had little to complain before 6.1 only to be littered with issues and neglect after 6.1.
Thus to clarify -> Kaiten removal... literally fixed nothing !!
Kaiten existing did not gatekeep players to clear any content nor play Samurai. The most casual of Samurai's did not swarmed the forums on how badly their fingers were breaking in half due to needing to cast Kaiten. It didn't improve anything. It only dumbed down our job, made it less satisfying and turned our resource gauge into a spammable Shinten/Kyuten gauge.
As for the excuse that they would improve our job going into Endwalker? that's great... of which we have not seen those new skills and changes no. So until that happens? they did nothing.
