Why is player housing so coveted in the community?

You know you can accomplish the same with an apartment, excluding the FC related options...right? Why own a home if you don't personally use it regularly and only keep it open for other people to use?

Because I got it when Shirogane was added and don't really feel the need to lose it. Plus it's at that perfect location next to a market board and with a good view of the ocean. Not to mention I don't really take long breaks from FFXIV, since at least 3 times a week I'm asked if I want to run something with somebody.

I mean, at least *do* something with it then instead of letting it sit and rot for randoms to come in and use. It feels wasteful in the current housing environment when there are those that would use it daily as a temporary home for their FC or would turn it into a venue that's open multiple times a week.

Again, that's why I keep it open. But people on this server don't exactly go into other people's homes unannounced, from what I can tell. My FC likes using the FC house for any gatherings and whatnot (so I end up there from time to time), and hazing new people by having them visit the leader's overwhelming office (IT'S TOO MUCH I TELL YOU).

You're keeping it open on the off chance that a random person will stumble in and use it. It has no actual purpose, you dont even use it regularly yourself as a private home. That's why it's wasteful. Do something actually useful with your house, please.

Tell people to come by then, almost everybody wants to meet somewhere other than housing. Doesn't help that the housing areas have horrible loading times, and the fact that it won't load you back inside the house. I find it easier to be in Outer La Noscea whenever I want to spam anything just because of how quick the loading times are...and this is with a PS4 Pro!

I don't think anybody has the right to tell someone else what is "wasteful" or not, and to do something "useful" with it. Now I have probably missed some context here, as I skimmed through, but anybody who has a house in the game can choose to do whatever they want with it, and should be able to do so.
