Why is player housing so coveted in the community?

Reasons housing is coveted so much

1. It's a limited resource
2. Ppl think they can immediately plop a gardening plot down and it will instantly start printing money.
3. Ppl wanted private FC's so they could use the FC workshop as a personal source of gil generation.
4. Game lacks gil sinks that remove gil from the game by having players exchange it with an NPC. The cause of game economy inflation is gil is created by players exponentially faster than the few sinks in game can remove it.
5. There are larger FCs that actually do social things at their FC house
6. Some ppl enjoy decorating a house and having a place that suits their personal style and taste.
7. Some ppl want someplace to stick all those seasonal and quest reward furnishings, decorations, and food settings.

One of the things SE could do to noticeably reduce housing demand is introduce stronger and more meaningful gil sinks into the game so less ppl are just sitting on millions or billions of gil with nothing to spend it on.

And before ppl start doing 1 line posts of "Add instanced housing" how about actually plan out all the logistics of adding said feature before throwing it out there like it's just a matter of a fairy waving a wand and poof it happens.

From my personal view

Private place benefits (This can be apartment or house)
1. Crafting without interruption, I feel rude if someone comes along and says hello and I just continue crafting even though I don't mind holding a conversation while working.
2. Be able to be semi-afk without tabbing back to the game and see I've ignored people that greeted me.

Personal
1. It's nice having a home to go back to at the end of the day.
2. It feels like having reached a milestone, housing is a limited resource.
3. I'm social so its nice to hang out with friends vs standing around in a huge crowd of people in a city.
4. I'm married, it feels strange to me to be so and not have a home be it apartment or house.

FC house are great for the buff they provide, but some kinda overrate them (trying to make solo FC to get it)
Airship/submarine arent as great money making as some ppl want make others to believe
i hear a lot the "workshop give lots of specific items" true but they fail to mention that 95% of those items are to make airship/submarines,
and the good stuff is usually incredibly rare/hard to get, not to mention that some airship piece can be VERY costly !
(not talking about the mats you get from sending airship in explo) because you need then craft these mats into parts and there you need 4 crafter (if my memory doesnt fail me)

many MANY people overestimate housing as a whole like the "golden chicken that once you got it, youll become instantly rich !"
(garden for instance ..., crazy how many people believe this part alone is going to make them crazy rich ...)

but i do agree on the parts, as a crafter, to be able to craft in a nice house, in silence with nobody borthering you is real nice, but an appartement can do this all the same

I tell you why, for me. I personally have this dream in real life that one day I will have my own house. My family is form Eastern EU and we never could allow our own house until my stepdad started working for a factory where the communist leadership gave every worker a flat in a block of flats. You know, those are that are very similar to apartment just on bigger scale. The places that most people call ghetto...

Ever since I was a kid it seemed impossible for me to have my own house. I moved now to a different country and I am still working on it but it is still one of my life goals. So, in every other situation in my life, not just in games, I try to make my own little space my own little "home" for myself.

When I play a video game that says "you can have your own house" the first thing I would do is get one.

Imagine how it feels for me every week to apply to this stupid lottery just to have the honey coated bait pulled infront of me for nothing.

I cannot really speak for others, this is just my personal feeling on the topic coming from my real life influence.

I mean, again, I am from eastern EU. I can get used to lowering my standards pretty easily. I was just not expecting it from a Fantasy game...

Feel like 90% of folks that have a personal house dont actually use it once they finish furnishings it. They might fiddle with it couple times a year but for the most its down right useless to a single person unless they heavily rp or dedicate to gardening...

im sure if they had the chance they would use it, thing is house dont have an actual purpose beside looking nice, like nothing,
imagine for a cook having a stove or cooking station that your character would actually use, and give just a tiny tiny slight bonus in crafting skill, everyone would use more often theyre house,
and actually invite friends inside, to benefit from it,
or even see your servant roam and use things in your house, but no they stand there, doing nothing,
just having them, idk tend to your chocobo when in the stable, and make chocobo have a slight increase in hp or dmg idk like 5% after being tended to, but no
private house beside heavy RP or gardening, has actually legit no usebeside looking nice and fancy, kinda sad when you think about it
