I don't think Pepsis is useless by itself.
To me, it's more like we don't have content where Pepsis is useful since SGE has a lot of better tools that he would use before remembering that Pepsis exists.

Yep, it's akin to Emergency Tactics on SCH. You don't use it unless...well, it's an emergency.
Which usually is bad resource management of the sage or new players who dies to every mech or bad gear or all of the reasons stated would be why to use it. Eh i rather have 90% useless esuna on my bar over pepsis. Soda skill need rework for a better flavor
The reason that Pepsis is useless in most situations and very, very niche in other situations is that SGE has a billion other buttons that are 100% free both in terms of dps and MP, making them straight up superior over a noodle GCD heal + shield. EProg is pretty much your last resort and Pepsis is your last resort of a last resort.Umm… it’s for when people have big shields and low health..
It’s a pretty core component of sage. It’s not a big ooo shiny macrocosmos or something, but like, when people have shields below healthcap, and your next move would optimally be another euk barrier, pepsis. Literally no reason not to, every shield spell is instant. Super short cooldown
Can be useful for deep healing a tank, or in getting multiple party members back up to equilibrium while refreshing everyone else’s barriers.
If nothing else it’s quality of life, like true north
You don't spam EProg as your bread and butter, you don't constantly "refresh barriers" and it's definitely not a core component of SGE.
This is exactly the reason why someone might rely on EProg.
Not it being a "core component".
When I first saw Pepsis I thought the point was to use it with EProg. to get all your Addersting stacks even if you didn't need the extra healing to boost personal DPS. Turns out addersting is barely even a mechanic, just used for ONE GCD movement tool, and Pepsis is even more useless. We have so many other emergency buttons and OGCD's to use, why would I ever need to do EProg. and then delete my shields just for some extra healing when I can easily heal everyone to full and keep the shield? Healers in this game are so poorly thought out.
How does this have 9 upvotes? How condescending can you be? I've never run into a team so bad that I've had to use it, and I'm a Sage main. The only time it MIGHT be useful is during healing checks like P4S. Otherwise it's totally superfluous next to your tons of OGCD heals. I have this button on my bar and have probably a hit it a total of two times. Neither of those times felt necessary.it's useful when i have a garbage party and i've already wasted literally every other heal keeping them alive. could it be better? yeah. maybe stronger or something or provide a regen but useless? far from it.
i'm sorry if it eats into your precious green DPS time. consider playing a rez mage.
Everything this man said right here! Except for Soteria being deleted... I like the idea of being able to Kardia multiple party members and used Soteria to AoE heal rather than all this boring standard AoE healing. If only the people in charge of designing Sage had actually committed to the concept.I'll mention damage, I have no problem being open on that and couldn't care less if some Sylphie comes along wailing "filthy green dps!".
Abilities like Krasis, Soteria and Pepsis should be straight up deleted and replaced with dps buttons.
I'm not interested in improving them because we don't need them. We have far too many healing buttons. It's ridiculous how much free heal we have considering the damage intake of most content and people want to add even more? It just turns the gameplay into mindlessly churning out healing buttons without thinking because we don't run out. I'm even fine if a party wipes once a month because we didn't have Pepsis, if it boiled down to missing 150 aoe potency and all other options were exhausted, that group massively screwed up and deserves to wipe.
The healing aspect of healers is more than adequately covered, so yes, delete the useless fluff and add some dps.

Pepsis is not useless at all. Because of how server works you can even block a hit with the full shield and get the heal from Pepesis as well.
If your shield isn't broken after a hit that means people took 0 damage, which makes the healing from Pepsis redundant. So not the best example for Pepsis' usefulness.
? The shield can be broken and you still get the heal also a raid wide will break the shield. A raid wide will consume the shield and do dmg. Due to the way snapshotting works, it is possible to have an instance of damage consume the shield, and get healing from Pepsis. To do this, you need to use Pepsis between the damage snapshotting and resolving.

While I believe this could be possible with how raiding in general is done for complete consistency, I wouldn't bet my raid teams life on someone maybe getting their shield ticked to early and simply just dying to the blast outright since I needed to shield them to begin with.? One of the many things about AoE in this game is that they don't apply to everyone at the same time just very closely together.
