Shibi, if that is what the developers had concluded about the calls for a lottery, all I can say is that the level of cognitive dissonance they have demonstrated is off the charts. All of those are correct, and I need to agree. I will add a fourth though...
The Hrothgar Earless Hair excuse for housing which basically goes with Yoshi saying "well, we didn't know you wanted anything better, we heard you on the lottery idea and thought that was what you wanted and now you say it's not. Well this is very concerning." and maybe a "post what you want want he forums, and we will look at it".
Honestly, I wish he could hire an experienced dev with a proven housing track record, someone like Emily Taylor (Domino) from EQ2's past or many others of similar star calibre to redo it and come up with something world beating.

Put it on the players who said "A lottery will solve all our problems. We don't care what other players are saying about a lottery not really solving the real problem. All we care about is removing the need to placard camp. Give us a lottery and we'll be happy." So SE gave them the lottery they were asking for.
Are they happy like they said they would be? Some are. Some aren't.
Are the rest of us asking for a solution to the real problem happy? No, but then SE wasn't trying to address our concerns. They were just addressing the concerns of the players that didn't want to placard camp.

Maybe one day when SE has access to it's own cloud stack like Microsoft's Azura stack; then housing for everyone might be possible.

The lottery is at least fair and much better than placard camping. Placard camping was the dumbest possible system. It was unhealthy and made only for people with no rl responsibilities. There is a difference between “want” and “can” placard camp.
That being said, the lottery still doesn’t address SE’s shortcomings when it comes to the overall huge supply problem. Bidding on your dream plot near the beach is one thing, seeing your chance to be able to access certain in game content being reduced to 1/100 for a small house and probably close to 1/1000 chances in the next lottery based on pure rngis not right.

Agreed and I put it on SE for thinking, if that is indeed what they did, that the Lottery by itself would be a complete fix to the housing problem. They should have known bloody well better than that. I for one am not willing to excuse such a lapse in judgement. If they have done their due diligence they have access to all sorts of data that should have made it plainly clear to them that until supply meets demand, the housing issue will not be fixed. Apartments are currently but a pale shadow of what houses are. Too claustrophobic with significantly less functionality. They also require warping (glitching) the game mechanics in order to get even a smidgeon more living space (although that applies to houses too). The lottery is at least fair and much better than placard camping. Housing is very much not the end all be all feature y'all think it is ^^
It also enslaved you into a permanent sub!
But yes, housing is amazing and I'm sure one day, we'll see a proper solution!
I recommend waiting for new server and trying your luck there if you really really really want one ^^

I started playing FF14 in August 2021. I already have a house.
I registered for the lottery for the new houses in Ishgard the first time around for a small plot.
There were only 3 other people vying for the same spot, and I lucked out it seems.
Back then during the first round, there were significantly more plots available for players so the chances of winning were higher.
I guess people really want the medium / large plots to be available for use as well -- it would be good if SE can make more M/L houses available.
Not sure what their reasoning for "FC only" plots though -- why do they want to limit the use as such? It's sad to see all these open plots in the FC-only areas.

buy an appartment.. seriously.. the only thing they lack is a garden.. and frankly i doubt any of you will actually spend any time actually using said garden even if you got one.
oh you cant make an appartment look great? lies.. theres plenty of amazing looking appartments.. frankly their furnishing limit compared to their size is the best (mansions which are about 12 times the size of appartments, only get 4 times the item limit).
all i see is a bunch of beggars being choosers.. i cant have a luxury place.. so ill pretend the affordable stuff doesnt exist
Accept what you get, peasant. Don't try and make the system more fair and equitable for everyone. Apartments are a nice start for someone trying to get into housing, but are objectively inferior to owning even a small house.buy an appartment.. seriously.. the only thing they lack is a garden.. and frankly i doubt any of you will actually spend any time actually using said garden even if you got one.
