Stop cheating new players

I left my old MMORPG and started to play FF14 only because it had a well-made housing system that let players to show their creaivity, as I thought. I spent so much time reading about housing system and watching other players screenshots before the start. Oh, if I only new the truth these days!.. And I shall say just one thing now. Please, do not cheat new players by promising them that they can by a house, because they can't. Housing is not a feature in FF14, it is only some kind of extra option which an ordinary player will never obtain.

I feel you. When I heard about a housing system, I was excited because I love decorating the houses I get in the games I play. My friend immediately shot that dream down and told me how the system worked. I was heartbroken. I had some hope when I learned apartments were a thing, but I got an apartment and learned I couldn't actually garden. I couldn't share my food with my friends. Basically, I learned apartments aren't actually houses. Since then, I've been trying to get a house, but it seems like my only hope currently is to use my friend's FC and hope he gives me creative freedom over the house. Honestly this whole thing's been burning me out from the game to the point where I might, at minimum, take a break. I'm considering quitting over it.

For the first time I was trying to play FF14 some years ago, but I left it because I wasn't actually satisfied with quite many things in gameplay. But I am in fond of decorating, too, and all these years long I was thinking about it's housing system and at last came to a conclusion that I will be okay with everything I don't really like just because I will have so many opportunities to make personal designs for my future house. I had and still have so many dreams and plans and ideas for it... And then I waited for the announcement of a new housing area and this lottery system and get back to the game... just to realize that with my poor luck I will never have one.
For appartaments I totaly agree with you. It simply isn't enough. No gardening, only 100 items to put in such a large room... I have two apartaments now, 100 items placed in both of 100 avaliable and still I would improve so many things in it's designs. It's a joke, honestly, the apartaments are larger than the upper floor room in a small house and has only 100 items to put in. No sharing with other players, too. I'm playing together with my IRL husband and he can't even get me a normal acces to his rooms to help with decorations without logging to his account what is against the rules. Limited decoration, limited gardening, limited roleplaying, limited everything in these apartaments. And no light at the end of the tunnel.
I feel so captured and frustrated now because of all this. My half-year subscribtion is passing away day after day and I have no mood to do anything in the game. Just strolling across the housing wards all evenings long and living from one bidding period to another. I have already visited all opened houses and FC apartaments on my server and perhaps a 1/3 of them on my data center. And I don't want it at all but it makes me so angry when I see an empty house... I just can't think about how I'd decorate it instead! I have noticed that it even started to affect my real life.
Shame SE to put things with housing like this, really!

No new player is ever going to be able to afford a house to even PARTICIPATE until well after their sprout status has already went away, and most likely the biddings will be done and there won't even be any houses left (depending on when they start, somebody starting ARR now is never getting a house, flat out), so that right there hardlocks a significant chunk of the population out of housing.

Why, players with sprout status can enter lottery if they have enough gil and had earned second lieutenant rank in their Grand Company. At least, I'm still a sprout and have entered several lotteries already. The problem is that with over 50 people bidding for small houses and over 200 for medium ones it is impossible to win something. The chance is too low, and noone can do nothing with that, only to hope and get dissapointed after every new round until there would be nothing to bid for.

I feel your pain, I felt cheated too when I was new and trying to get a house. If you were on my server I would offer tenancy in my private mansion to you to play around with since I won't be getting around to redecorating that one for some months, my plans for my FC house are so grand and I am generally so slow that it will take me ages.

Fingers crossed they can fix this so more new peeps don't feel cheated too.

ALWAYS check the forums and reviews before you switch games. They will give you the real info on what these games are really doing (or not) for players.

They need to supply enough now! no more delays and no more excuses!

They are indeed using it as a selling point and they shouldn't be, its bordering fraud imo.

Not only do you stand a miniscule chance of EVER getting a home but then you are forced to log in every 45 days to keep the item you PURCHASED lolol wow, that line of thinking is complete insanity.

Why not delete all character levels and gear every 45 days if you don't log in.. or go for broke and relinquish all paid for expansions, characters, gil, mounts and pets if you cant log in every 45 days or if you take a break like most humans do.

SE could do so many excellent changes if they wanted to. They absolutely have the talent to make some exceptional changes and improvements BUT they haven't and have made no effort to over the years, so its a very sad state for anyone wanting a home and forced to stay to keep it (smh)
