What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

Sure it can be annoying to have multiple people respond to you in an instant, but that just seems like more chances for a conversation.

It is nearly impossible to reply to five or six or more people arguing with you at once without either over-summarizing everything into walls of texts, or overly-quoting.

Especially on THIS platform, which limits the amount of posts you can make per day.

I'm not saying that everybody who comes here to argue with the consensus has excellent points or argues in good faith. I'm just saying that it's not so much that the forums are better, but that this thread has been quarantined, whether you see that as a good or bad thing.

I mean, in that case, you're agreeing with me. Basically, to debate, you're forced to argue with one single person and ignore the rest. Even then, it often devolves into a case of that one person who was chosen to be argued with starting to absorb the arguments of everyone else on their "side", which still leads to the other person having an endless exhaustive parade of arguments to trudge through.

And even then, forums posters tend to get annoyed when two people have a private argument back and forth that ignores the rest of the thread.

I wanted to talk about ShB after the fact because I loved it. I needed to talk about EW after the fact because I hated it.

Oof I felt that... It was especially bad early December when you had to dance around spoilers and had few people to talk to. I honestly wasn't okay after Endwalker. I hate that it affected me and my mood so much.

I think part of it is because of how many pages it's got... Personally I would be kind of intimidated by a 500+ page thread (silly thing to say, I admit) and probably wouldn't even bother reading most of it unless I was super invested. Good thing I joined around page 90 or so.

(Edit) I just don't see the problem much, either. It's one-sided, yes. I just consider it a response to the positive echo chamber. It's good to have this one little space at least.

Sounds normal to me. When I jumped in here I only read a few pages before my initial post, was like 200 or something. I've never met anyone who reads a thread in full before posting when that thread is lengthy.

I quit playing for about a month after EW and probably would've unsubbed if my SO hadn't recently bought the game. I think that once we finish 5.3 (we're currently in 4.0) making that decision will be a lot easier. I don't even see the point of going through EW. It also depends on what 6.2 brings. I'm cautiously optimistic based on the Omega quest chain, but Venat is too popular a character to completely ignore. Here's hoping her short story will just be about her and the original Watcher.

I consider myself to have one foot out the door, it depends on where things go from here.

I'm not villifying anybody specific or this thread as a whole. Just pointing out that it's creating your own faction to counter another faction. Aka tribalism.

I see people talking about getting downvoted off of threads or getting kicked from discord groups. The closest thing to that here is if someone reports your post and it actually gets removed. I fail to see the issue with several people responding to you at once on this platform. Either way I think, we've belabored the point to death.

How did we understand the Ancients fluently when we went to Elpis? When it's already established they speak an entirely different, incomprehensible-to-us language? I don't actually even remember how we understood the shades in Amaurot but I do recall they weren't literally speaking our tongue we just somehow understood what they were saying without actually understanding their language. Yet when we go to Elpis they just speak fluent modern-tongue?

I mean it's already bad enough the people of the first speak the exact same language as the source.

What do you want, exactly? For everybody to step in line and admit that this thread is a flawless diamond?

It’s not equally as bad though. The other sites like twitter and reddit are objectively worse. I’ve encountered death threats and stalking on both platforms, no such thing on here. Reddit and twitter are both major echo chambers of you can’t criticize anything about this story or you get jumped on. In here, people seem to be fairly understanding so long as you don’t come in here full of snark, which a lot of people do. “Endwalker is lackluster? Someone didn’t pay attention, you just don’t understand.” Etc etc. If you’re not liking the discussion though crowny nothing is stopping you from leaving.
