    Recently mind-blown by a discussion on the Balance discord regarding Samurai's
    " Damage Variance issue ".

    Well... What is this DPS Variance issue?
    Fluctuations in DPS equals RNG DPS that players don't fully 100% control affecting logging, parsing, progging and a specific DSR Ultimate mechanic where precise DPS is favored to not wipe the party. Sounds fair. Then I got mindblown by the answer to my next question...

    Does DPS variance get in the way of clearing any Content?
    " NO ". A hindrance? more difficult? maybe. Impossible? No. And thus I facepalmed>MyDesk>IntoMyface... because reading players argue about it so much made me assume it was something needing fixing. It's not required to be changed to clear any content.

    Okey, and this is related to Samurai how?
    High Skill potencies = Big hits = Bigger DPS fluctuations. Thus our recent changes Kaiten removal, potency changes, Auto-Crits <- of which none were an issue because we can clear all the content. Is it to nerf? big whoop, we can clear content.

    So why did Samurai received changes?
    Speculations... it did not improve or made our job more complex just dumber. It could be balancing reasons, or design reasons, rotation restrictive to create new skills for us all a big maybe.


    Scratching my head on the why since none of these changes were required to clear content and no one asked... until I do stumble upon conversations of " Kaiten never was interactive anyways "... which makes me stare at my Shinten-Bar and ask how 6.1 no Kaiten is any more interactive then 6.08 with Kaiten.

    And the answer I get is a possible overhaul? that is better then what we have now? Great argument... so where is this " better? " or am I supposed to expect this " better Samurai " at 6.2? 7.1? 8.6? 2025?


    Possible tinfoil moment here... but I sense players desiring simplifications not just for Samurai from Samurai mains no... but purely cause of anything that stands in the way of a perfect parse. That means any ounce of extra thinking required or room for error that can be erased should be erased, it's a nuisance.

    So we love Kaiten, but it gets in the way of a perfect parse so... and I am not saying all high-end players are like this, I am just sadly realizing some players are, thinking this an improvement that defines better and... " Fun Gameplay ".

    Doing less and having less room for error to show skill is fun? Wow, they must all prefer playing one button phone games, don't they?

    6.15 hit our servers, and yet not a single word not a single acknowledgement...

    The excuse I read from people defending Square where " changes don't happen on the fly " is literally worth a pile of turds. They can fix and address and apologize for so many recent mess ups and changes.

    And still... still... not an ounce of acknowledgement for the Samurai Changes and F ups, of which they asked feedback for. Really? anyone surprised? no. Radio silence. And that's probably the horrible part of it all isn't it?

    We're not surprised to get disappointed anymore, and being let down.

    Everytime I think of Samurai, i think of that one time Zenos stepped on and broke his old katana in two because he wanted to find a new weapon that could help him make himself strong enough to defeat the WoL.

    As an enjoyer of 6.08 Samurai, this is how I feel the devs have done to the Job class. They broke it without giving it a second thought or even a glance at it and continue to not acknowledge its unplayable condition.

    I didn't expect a reversion or fix in this patch, but I'm still disappointed. How depressing!

    I'd be fine with waiting until 6.2 for a fix (even though they've done reversions in the past on smaller patches) but it'd be nice to know whether or not SE even cares about all our feedback at this point. The silence is becoming extremely irritating. They said they'd await feedback. They have like 50+ pages of it now, not even counting however much of a response has been posted in the other languages' forums.

    At least a "please look forward to deez nuts" from Yoshi-P would let me know it's time to unsubscribe now instead of later. I haven't felt motivated to log in much lately but I'm getting tired of just hoping we hear something soon.

    Look, I am not pointing fingers here. But I find it even this reasoning... DPS Variance, incredibly " Stupid ". Because reduction of Variance? is rebalancing towards " Non-Variance ". There will always be variances in the numbers, it's an endless rabbit hole... Where do we stop on variance reduction?
    • Direct Hit removal
    • Making every job Auto-Crit
    • Removal of Crit entirely
    • All Gear stats equalized
    • Job buffs are now all the same
    • Every Racial stat passive the same
    • Auto-Attack removal
    • Removal of all Dots
    • All Mitigation the same
    • All AoE shapes the same
    • All healing amounts the same
    • All the same everything the same everything
    Might all sound extreme and unbelievable, but is it? Because we can find variances up into the decimals... we can go really far when it comes to forcing " equality " here, just how far are we going? well we don't know! it's to eliminate variance, well it can go endless.

    Our DPS variance would be an issue if our regular Midare hits say 20k? and our Crit Midare hits 500k+, well then yeah the DPS variance is an issue, but its not that extreme... it just isn't.

    And ultimately, to Fix what issues... for FFXIV? we can clear everything, DPS variance does not stand in the way of it. Is it for FFLogs? for what? that sounds like an FFLogs problem then not an FFXIV problem. Nothing makes sense and no acknowledgement from Square is just beyond stupid but hey! who knows... maybe we'll get another attire on sale in the Mogstation. The important things.
