There are a variety of reasons someone might feel obligated to the game, and many of them are completely unrelated to the quality of the current content. Game systems like Housing, or social systems like FCs and statics can create a situation where someone feels pressured to remain subscribed, despite the game not really offering enough content to justify the price.

Knowing that the consequences of unsubbing are something they don't want to deal with, they look for ways to justify staying subscribed. When they can't find any, they end up in threads like these discussing the lack of content.
